2019 Outstanding Nonprofit Leader

Linda C. SmithLinda Smith
Executive/Artistic Director, Repertory Dance Theatre

In Linda C. Smith’s 54 years at Repertory Dance Theatre, her agenda has been to develop opportunities rich in cultural diversity. Her work with RDT has coated the city and Utah with arts education, ethnic representation through  the work presented by the company and employment of racially and ethnically diverse dancers. She has pushed communities to experience art through performances that may seem scary, uniting, complex, accessible, moving and inspiring. As a leader she inspires her dancers learn to be community advocates, expressive members of the arts as educators, creative beings and a part of a global community. She has a vision of prosperity with social cultural respect for the communities she reaches. Her presence inspires, her words illuminate perspective, and her endless passion for the field serves as a prime example of sacrifice on behalf of something greater than oneself.

Linda has transformed how communities see themselves in this world.
