Position Summary: The Marketing Intern will play a crucial role in supporting the marketing and communications team
at the Humane Society of Utah in executing various marketing initiatives and strategies.This position offers a valuable opportunity for hands-on learning and practical experience in a fast-paced, non-profit marketing environment. The intern will work closely with the marketing and communications team to gain exposure to different aspects of marketing, including content creation, social media management, graphic design, photography and videography, public relations, and more.
Primary Responsibilities: ● Aid in the development and execution of marketing campaigns across various digital and
traditional platforms.
● Support the creation of engaging and informative content for various marketing channels,
including social media, blogs, and newsletters.
● Assist with public relations and adoptable pet media segments.
● Assist in managing and growing the company's social media presence by creating and
scheduling posts, engaging with followers, and monitoring analytics.
● Collaborate with the team to organize and execute promotional events and other marketing
● Assist in creating and designing marketing materials, including but not limited to digital and
print collateral, social media graphics, infographics, presentations, and advertisements.
● Provide general administrative support to the marketing team, including organizing files,
scheduling meetings, and maintaining marketing databases.
Desired Qualifications: ● Currently enrolled in a relevant Bachelor's or Master's degree program, preferably in
Marketing, Communications, Business, Journalism, Photography, or a related field. Or within
12 months of graduation.
● Basic animal handling skills. Must be comfortable working with dogs of all breeds and sizes.
Safety training will be provided.
● Basic understanding of marketing principles and techniques.
● Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
● Familiarity with social media platforms and digital marketing tools.
● Proficiency in G Suite and other relevant software applications.
● Proficiency in graphic design software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator,
InDesign), Canva, and other relevant tools is a plus.
● Creativity, an eye for detail, and strong organizational skills.
● Eagerness to learn and contribute in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
● A portfolio or social channel showcasing marketing, content creation, or design work is a
