Position Summary: Torrey House Press seeks a full-time Marketing and Communications Coordinator to create, distribute, and optimize how we engage our community of readers and supporters across platforms. The position is 80% remote and reports to the Executive Director.
The ideal candidate is self-motivated and comfortable working independently from home and in an office environment and utilizing technology to communicate effectively with team members. This position requires excellent writing, project management, and interpersonal skills, and will serve as a key point of contact with authors, bookstores and partner organizations. The successful candidate will have an eye for design and bring a digital-first perspective, a collaborative and team-oriented mindset, and a passion for literature and conservation.
Primary Responsibilities: The responsibilities of the selected candidate will include, but are not limited to the following tasks:
• Draft copy and create content for all Torrey House Press platforms and channels (newsletters, marketing and fundraising emails, social media platforms, etc.)
• Create and manage a communications calendar to coordinate efforts for book publicity, event promotion, fundraising, and other initiatives
• Maintain THP website
• Administer THP social media channels
• Manage set up, distribution, and analysis of communications to THP email lists, including our monthly newsletter, two annual fundraising campaigns and book/event announcements
• Identify and implement strategies to grow THP’s email lists
• Create and complete marketing/communications plans to promote new titles, drive sales, reach new readers, and deepen relationships with existing supporters
• Submit applications for book awards
• Partner with Executive Director to identify ways to improve THP website, communications and social media strategies
• Publicize THP internships and coordinate application process
• Plan and coordinate author events with authors, bookstores, libraries, colleges and universities, and arts and conservation partners
• Provide occasional in-person event support

Outcomes for this body of work include (but are not limited to):
• Create compelling content (written and visual)
• Coordinate 4-8 engaging author events per month
• Increase engagement with THP email and social media constituents by
o Growing email list and social media reach
o Improving specific engagement metrics for email and social media channels
o Achieving fundraising campaign goals

This job may require travel for events and other needs, with travel expenses covered or reimbursed. Use of personal computer and phone are required.
Desired Qualifications: • Demonstrated marketing or communications experience and/or equivalent coursework or training
• Excellent writing and interpersonal communication skills
• Advanced understanding of social media platforms, tactics, and trends
• Enthusiasm for working with THP authors, regional booksellers, and other event partners
• Excellent attention to detail
• Excellent follow-through
• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative and engaged team
• Demonstrated passion for the Torrey House mission
• Graphic design skills are a major plus, but not required
