Position Summary: Equal Justice Under Law is one of our nation’s most basic principles. However, economic realities often leave these promises unfulfilled. This is where Utah Legal Services comes in. Since our inception as a nonprofit in 1976, ULS has been committed to making equal justice a reality by providing free services, in civil legal matters. Last year, ULS assisted over 9,000 clients with legal issues related to their basic needs, such as housing, family safety, and income security. More than 75 attorneys and legal professionals working remote and in person, deliver client services from four regional offices in Salt Lake City, Ogden, Provo and St. George. Join our team and help us level the playing field for low- income Utahns, ensuring everyone has a voice in the legal system.
Primary Responsibilities: Research previous and future fundraising efforts. Accomplish organization goals by creating a sustainable grant system and exploring new funding opportunities.
Compile necessary information for the application process through collaboration with other employees, database research, and other fact-finding actions and meetings.
Helps prepare grant applications, making sure that applications focus on the conditions, restrictions, and goals of Utah Legal Services.
Researching, writing, compiling, and managing the timeline of all grants including maintenance and oversight of workflow processes and procedures to ensure accurate and efficient collection and timely submission. Ensures grants are submitted on time and within application parameters.
Ensure compliance with IRS regulations and foundations’ requirements for grants.
Work with all departments to collect and synthesize data. Oversees grant workflow processes related to data entry to ensure adequate internal controls and that all grants reporting of data is accurate.
Desired Qualifications: Demonstrated commitment to working with low-income community and promoting access to civil legal justice.
Ability to write in a clear, concise manner to clearly communicate purpose and reach various audiences including foundations, donors, and broader general constituencies.
Effective oral communication skills, ability to present information and represent the organization with community partners and funders.
Ability to multi-task with attention to detail.
Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize.
Ability to work independently and in collaboration with others.
Extensive knowledge of fundraising strategies and principles.
Knowledge of tax planning principles and techniques that favor charitable giving.
Bachelor's Degree in related field
Minimum of two years related experience.
