Position Summary: Under the direction of the Development Director, the Community Outreach Coordinator is responsible for maintaining the CSS brand as well as developing awareness, donor relationships, sponsorships, and relationships with businesses, individuals, and other organizations interested in supporting CSS. This position regularly interfaces with CSS leadership and the Board of Directors and reports to the Development Director.
Primary Responsibilities: General Duties:
• Attend Children's Service Society meetings as scheduled
• Maintain a filing system for paperwork
• Follow company policies
• Follow policies and procedures, dress appropriately, and represent the agency in a positive manner
• Communicates with co-workers and team members positively, respectfully, and professionally. Willing to work on good communication techniques, team building techniques, and other ways to improve the CSS Admin team
• Report regularly to Outreach and Development Director
• Support and carry out the mission of the agency
Direct Duties
• Actively participate in staff meetings and committees as necessary and appropriate
• Be involved with the community at large and appropriate professional organizations
• Ensure the company website is constantly updated
• Coordinate Social Media plan under the direction of the board and Development Director
• Design outreach materials as needed for community events (flyers, one-pagers, PowerPoints, etc.)
• Support the implementation and follow-up for special events in collaboration with Development Director
• Update CSS donor base and maintain donor relationships as needed
• Manage some aspects of volunteer committees and volunteer coordination under direction of the Development Director, which could include but is not limited to staffing, recruitment, supervision, training, and acknowledgment
• Assist in maintaining donors and volunteer database
• Report in-kind donations, cash contributions, and volunteer hours to Development Director
• Support event logistics and publicity, including public relations, advertising, collateral material design, production, and distribution as directed by board members and Development Director
• Assist in the development and fulfillment of event budgets
• Assist in acquiring in-kind donation solicitations for each event
• Maintain records on fundraising activities for each event
• Follow up with Development Director to expand sponsorship development and fulfillment
• Write, submit, and follow up to ensure placement on media releases and stories to establish contacts with local and regional media as requested by Development Director and Board of Directors
Desired Qualifications: Education and Experience:
Preferred Bachelor's degree or equivalency in Communications, Business, Marketing, Fund Development, or related field. Proficiency in written and oral communication and Microsoft computer applications. Possess initiative and ability to multi-task, meet deadlines, and work in a collaborative environment. Experience in the non-profit sector is preferred. The work schedule may require some weekends, early mornings, and late evenings.
