Position Summary: Immigration Attorney - Northern Utah
Location: Catholic Community Services of Utah, 2504 F Ave, Ogden, UT 84401
Status: Full-time, non-exempt
Hiring Range: $60,000-65,000.00 annually

Job Description:
Provide representation and outreach to immigration clients in Northern Utah, working out of the Ogden CCS Northern Utah Office. The attorney who staffs this position is also responsible for serving immigrant victims of crime who qualify to receive services funded by a Victims of Crime Act (VOCA) grant.
Position status and expected schedule
This is a salary position.
A flexible schedule is possible, but this position requires in-person/face-to-face work with clients (we are not able to accommodate applicants who can only work remotely).
Primary Responsibilities: Responsibilities include:
Screen and consult with potential clients to determine eligibility for CCS legal services and VOCA grant eligibility.
Prepare and file applications with the USCIS on behalf of clients and represent clients before the USCIS and the Immigration Court.
Visit the domestic violence shelters in Weber and Davis counties to provide outreach about VOCA-funded legal services and screen residents who request immigration legal services.
Coordinate with other nonprofit legal service providers that use a common hotline and referral service.
Track and report on client outcomes.
Work in collaboration with other CCS staff attorneys and paralegal staff to work on other projects as assigned, this may include offering legal services to migrants seeking asylum.
Work Environment - inside/outside, office, warehouse, noise, temperature, etc.
This position is in a professional office environment using standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.
Physical Demands including bending, sitting, lifting, and driving
This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, carry 25 pounds, open filing cabinets, bend, reach or stand as necessary.

Recognizes time as a valuable resource and responds promptly to the needs of clients, and co-workers.
Understands the requirements of grant programs and the need to track hours and be accountable for time spent on cases.
Proficiency in English and Spanish oral and written communication.
Must maintain confidentiality regarding clients.
Proficiency in computer skills to maintain case files, complete documentation, scheduling, and e-mail in GroupWise.
Availability of an automobile with proof of current driver's license and auto insurance.
Personal qualities of openness and respect for co-workers and clients, compassion, and graciousness in helping clients to assess and to face their situations and to accept assistance.
Commitment to the mission of the program and agency.
Knowledge of community resources.
Ability to evaluate and supervise staff.
Ability to travel.
Ability to communicate and work with others.
Education, training and or experience:
Must have a law degree by May 30, 2023.
Spanish/English bilingual is preferred but not required.
Background Screen/BCI requirement
Must be able to pass a background check
Licenses, certifications and credentials
Must be able to Obtain a Law License within 12 months of the date of hire (Utah License preferred).
