Benefits / Why Work With Us: Beginning in 1977, our mission for 46 years has been protecting children, strengthening
families, and preventing abuse. As Utah’s first crisis nursery model established for short-term
crisis and respite care for children at risk of abuse and neglect, the Family Support Center has had
a history of changing lives and making a difference for those most vulnerable. Currently, FSC
operates three crisis nursery locations across the Salt Lake Valley. Since 1977, FSC has carefully
changed, added, and expanded programs to meet the dynamic needs of the populations served
and furthering of our mission.
Today, the FSC offers wrap-around services including crisis nurseries, low and reduced cost mental
health counseling, parent education classes, in-home respite care for children who have been
adopted through the state or other public welfare system, and the self-sufficiency program with a
housing component for single parent families transitioning from homelessness, drug recovery,
domestic violence, or other situations where families are working to get back on their feet. In
addition to the services FSC provides, we also have a robust system for engaging donors and
volunteers throughout all five properties. Last year, FSC served 1,870 unique individuals across the
Salt Lake Valley and provided 13,932 hours of care (FY 2021-22 Statistics).
