Job Description:

Provide immigration case management and direct services to the diverse migrant and refugee clients served by the MRS Immigration Program. This position will also support the legal staff of the Immigration Program by tracking and reporting on client outcomes, communicating with clients about case status, and scheduling appointments

Position status and expected schedule

This is a full-time position, 40 hours a week will be required but the schedule can be flexible with up to 10 hours a week working at night or on weekends.
Primary Responsibilities: Responsibilities include:

Works as the lead case manager responsible to serve clients who need help with refugee/asylee family reunification, refugee/asylee green card applications, and refugee document replacement.
Performs all duties under the supervision of legal staff including meeting directly with clients to distribute and collect questionnaires, collect documents, and input information into legal forms.
Responsible for many clerical duties including mailing files, logging and filing mail, maintaining client files (digital files and physical files), scheduling appointments, communicating with clients, and taking messages for legal staff via email and phone.
Communicates clearly with clients and community partners about eligibility for CCS Immigration Program services.
Coordinates with MRS case management staff to help clients reach milestones and objectives.
Documents all casework in the client's file or the electronic filing system.
Offers interpretation and translation services as necessary.
Maintains strict attorney/client confidentiality.
Must be able to demonstrate an ability to maintain confidentiality regarding client cases.

Work Environment - inside/outside, office, warehouse, noise, temperature, etc.

This position is in a professional office environment using standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.

Physical Demands - including bending, sitting, lifting, and driving

This is largely a sedentary role and applicants must have the capacity to perform several hours of data entry without restriction. The position also requires filing of documents and applicants should have the ability to lift file boxes (weight between 25-45 pounds), open filing cabinets, kneel, bend, reach or stand as necessary.

Education, training, or experience:

Paralegal certification or bachelor's degree preferred (will accept non-U.S. degrees)/
Proficiency in English and a language spoken by refugees.
Knowledge of relevant MS Office applications; Excel proficiency is mandatory and Access experience is preferred.
Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook.
Keyboarding and data entry skills.
Knowledge of office management systems and procedures.
Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures.
Experience working in a law office preferred.

Background Screen/BCI requirement

Must be able to pass a national BCI/FBI background check.

Licenses, certifications, and credentials

Current Utah driver's license, proof of auto insurance with minimum policy liability limits of $50,000 per person and $100,000 per occurrence, 21 years of age or older, a clean driving record, and ability to meet CCS vehicle safety requirements.
Law license (prefer Utah Law license)
