Position Summary: Refugee Housing Assistant

Location: Catholic Community Services of Utah, 224 north 2200 West, Salt Lake City, Utah 84116

Status: Full-time, Non-exempt with full benefits

Hiring Range: $18.00-$19.00/hr. DOE

Job Description:

Assist clients with the Emergency Rental Assistance Program and to apply for other more sustainable housing solutions after ERA funds have helped a family; this may include applying for Section 8 housing, Bud Bailey, or other wait list programs that clients may qualify for, this position works closely with Housing coordinator and case management to provide the Reception and Placement (R&P) and (APA).This position also works closely with community partners to ensure basic housing needs are met.
Primary Responsibilities: Responsibilities include:

Help clients to complete ERA applications and submit it to DWS online.
Provide updates on the status of their application and track approved applications.
Work closely with clients to collect and provide the correct paperwork.
Work with landlords to obtain W9 form and lease agreement.
Work with case managers to make sure all eligible refugee families apply for public and affordable housing programs.
Document services provided through case notes and case file documentation as required by the R&P Cooperative Agreement and other grants.
Use agency vehicles to travel as needed to perform all duties.
Act as a backup in preparing client files and maintaining database of client information.
Act as backup to the Housing coordinator, filling in for the position as needed.
Other duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications: Work Environment - inside/outside, office, warehouse, noise, temperature, etc.

1- This position is in a professional office environment using standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.

2- Some local travel.

Physical Demands including bending, sitting, lifting and driving

1- This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets, and bend or stand as necessary.

2- This role includes driving locally to apartment complexes and meetings.

Skills, knowledge and abilities:

Displays sensitivity to the needs of clients, clients' families, visitors, co-workers, volunteers, and other persons with whom the employee may interact.

Strong English oral and written communication.
Must maintain confidentiality regarding clients.
Proficiency in computer skills to maintain financial data, spreadsheets, database, scheduling, and email in Outlook.
Personal qualities of openness and respect for co-workers and clients, compassion, and graciousness in helping clients to assess and face their situations, and to accept assistance.
Fluency in languages other than English is a plus
Education, training and or experience:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or equivalent experience.
Property management experience preferred.
Housing experience plus.
Background Screen/BCI requirement

BCI/FBI background check is required.

Licenses, certifications, and credentials

Current Utah driver's license, proof of auto insurance with minimum policy liability limits of $50,000 per person and $100,000 per occurrence, 21 years of age or older, a clean driving record, and ability to meet CCS vehicle safety requirements.

Position status and expected schedule

1- Full Time, 40 hours per week.

2- Monday through Friday 8:30 am to 5:00 pm.
