Position Summary: As a UHHR therapist, you will play a crucial role in helping torture survivors and their families overcome the severe, pervasive, and long-lasting effects of torture, and achieve sustained physical, social, emotional, and economic well-being. Working under the guidance of the Social Services Director, you will provide individual, family, and group mental health therapy. Collaborating closely with each client, you will work towards the goals outlined in their treatment plan. Additionally, you will work in conjunction with our multidisciplinary team to plan interventions, integrate services, and promote holistic healing. Our trauma-informed and diverse team will provide you with an environment for professional development and growth, enabling you to make a significant impact on organizational growth and programming.
Primary Responsibilities: Direct Client Services
• Conduct comprehensive intakes to assess clients' needs, complete psychosocial assessments, and identify clients' history of trauma, acuity, strengths, and healing/recovery goals.
• Develop family-centered, strength-based, and culturally appropriate treatment plans. Provide outpatient services including individual counseling, family counseling/training, and group counseling.
• Collaborate with UHHR case managers on shared cases to ensure cooperation with relevant case management services in alignment with the client's treatment plan.
• Provide clients with supportive referrals to community services and ensure follow-up and connection.
• Address unique mental health needs of clients by working with them in community settings, outside of the office, to support their mental well-being, community integration, and resource development.

Indirect Client Services
• Learn and understand eligibility requirements and documentation for torture and asylum programs.
• Collaborate with community partners, including case workers at refugee/immigrant serving agencies, to coordinate services for clients and avoid duplication.
• Maintain timely clinical documentation, including progress notes, patient assessments, service/treatment plans, and other required forms/records. Maintain detailed case files and other documentation.
• Participate in ongoing supervision with the Clinical Director.
• Flexibility is crucial to meet client needs, including the possibility of evening and weekend hours.
Desired Qualifications: Required:
• Interest and passion for healing trauma, working with marginalized and underserved individuals, and ongoing personal and professional development.
• Experience, comfort, and sensitivity in working as part of a multicultural team.
• Demonstrated interest in issues related to immigrant communities, political torture, severe war trauma, social justice, and human rights.
• Ability to work effectively with an interpreter.
• Current Utah licensure as a CSW, LCSW, CMHC, ACMHC, AMFT, or LMFT.
• Ability to pass a background check.
• Valid driver's license and current automobile insurance.

Preferred:
• Two or more years of experience providing direct services to culturally and linguistically diverse clients (including internships and/or practicum).
• Familiarity working with trauma and/or torture survivors.
• Proficiency in both written and spoken Spanish/English.
