Organization's Mission: Summit Community Gardens and EATS is a non-profit organization with a mission to gather, learn, and grow in our gardens and schools.
Position Summary: Summit Community Gardens / Eat Awesome Things, alongside the Utah Conservation Corps (UCC), is excited to accept applications for an Assistant Volunteer Coordinator. This position is an AmeriCorps
Individual Placement Position. This position is primarily responsible for developing and expanding the volunteer programs. The coordinator will also assist in the development and maintenance of the
demonstration gardens, will facilitate garden volunteer groups, and work to develop metrics related
to volunteer activity in the garden. This position is supervised by the Volunteer Coordinator and
will serve approximately 40 hours per week.
Primary Responsibilities: • Develop a data tracking plan and collect and report AmeriCorps impact data timely and
accurately.
• Work closely with Volunteer Coordinator and Garden Director to identify and implement
opportunities for volunteers.
• Recruit, develop, and retain volunteers from throughout the community.
• Monitor community gardeners volunteer hours to ensure they complete their service.
• Provide training and communication to volunteers.
• Organize volunteers into task specific groups and arrange for volunteer days throughout the
season.
• Identify and implement volunteer tracking and reporting tools.
• Help develop a volunteer recognition program, including planning an end-of-year celebration.

• Interest in community engagement.
• Confidence in public outreach and speaking.
• Excellent communication skills, positive attitude, and ability to solve problems creatively.
• Desire to work outdoors in variable weather conditions.
• Basic knowledge of sustainable, organic gardening OR strong desire to learn.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or comfortable using Google Applications (Gmail and
Google Docs).
• The position requires strong leadership skills, self-motivation, and a passion to represent the
benefits of growing and eating healthy, local, organic food
