Organization's Mission: The Utah Afterschool Network equips the afterschool community with tools to improve program quality, build leadership capacity, and ensure equitable access to afterschool programs in Utah.
Position Summary: Under the direction of the Utah Afterschool Network (UAN) Executive Director, Director of Operations, and Professional Learning Systems Director, the Professional Learning Systems (PLS) Coordinator will be a key team member in implementing UAN’s virtual and in-person Professional Learning Systems. The UAN Professional Learning System (PLS) includes an annual conference, 2-3 regional trainings, eLearning Institute, and topical training events based on the needs of the afterschool field. The PLS Coordinator impacts the afterschool field of 3,500 professionals who serve 52,000 of Utah’s youth annually.
The PLS Coordinator will work collaboratively with other team members to ensure the implementation of quality at all UAN professional learning events, which may include participating or leading planning meetings, implementing logistical and organizational aspects of events, and communicating with colleagues, partners, presenters, venue liaisons, and volunteers. The PLS Coordinator will also foster relationships and collaborate with the Utah State Board of Education and The Department of Workforce Services Office of Child Care. The PLS Coordinator will report to the Professional Learning Systems Director and will work with and receive support from the Executive Director.
Primary Responsibilities: In collaboration with the Professional Learning Systems Director orchestrate, harmonize, and implement aspects of Professional Learning Systems at UAN. Tasks may include conference registration, conference donations, select and schedule workshop proposals; update the UAN website; create marketing materials; support marketing efforts, communicating with presenters, attendees or exhibitors; managing vendors' relationships, build and maintain volunteer relationships; create and collect survey data; assist with event online platform build outs, create PD Ads and email blasts, and additional event tasks as needed.
Process Afterschool Professional Development Incentive applications.
Collaborate with the Department of Workforce Services, Office of Child Care in the ongoing development and implementation of an Afterschool Credential.
Maintain eLearning Institute and National Afterschool Association membership database.
Track, manage, and connect event tasks and projects for the PD Team utilizing Asana.
Proactively approach issues and troubleshoot solutions with the Professional Systems Director.
Desired Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university preferred.
3 years Experience and a strong commitment to the out-of-school time field; experience in youth development; planning high-quality events; and/or marketing and communications experience.
Available to work a minimum of five Saturdays per year. Travel to Southern Utah one weekend a year.
Access to a vehicle or transportation for traveling statewide.
Maintain a valid Utah Driver’s License and motor vehicle insurance.
Excellent computer skills (see below).
Availability to potentially work overtime (with overtime compensation, time and a half) leading into the events, one to two weeks before an event.
