Position Summary: Utah Community Action in Salt Lake City, UT is seeking to hire Preschool Teachers for our Head Start preschool. We have several positions open. This is a year-round position.

Our Lead Teacher earns a competitive wage of $21.00/hour based on experience and education, with potential for increase over time. Primary Responsibilities: A DAY IN THE LIFE AS A LEAD TEACHER
As the Lead Teacher, you come to work each day excited and ready to make a difference in children's lives. Working cooperatively with another teacher, you teach a class of approx. 17 children each. You develop weekly lesson plans to ignite the curiosity and growth of the children in our preschool. You track each child's growth through observations, portfolio documentation, developmental checklist, and assessment data.
As a Head Start teacher, you not only provide an educational opportunity to children, but you work with the whole family to help them become more self-sufficient. Each year you conduct two home visits and two parent-teacher conferences.
The Lead Teacher completes case management for each student's family, creates lesson plans, and assists children in achieving their goals.
As a Lead Teacher you will be in the classroom teaching Monday-Thursday for 3 1/2 hours and for the remaining of the workday and on Friday's you will assist in case management which includes training's and completing work for the classroom, such as case notes, meeting with families, and lesson planning. While you have challenging moments, most of your time is spent having a lot of fun. Since you love interacting with children, you can definitely say that you get paid to do what you love.
Desired Qualifications: QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in early childhood education, family and consumer studies, or a related field preferred.
Associate's in child development or early childhood education, or equivalent coursework required.
One-year experience working with Preschoolers
Computer skills
Bilingual in English/Spanish is preferred, but not required. Previous Head Start teaching experience is a plus! Are you able to work well independently and as part of a team? Do you have strong interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills? Are you detail-oriented? Can you guide and mentor your assistant teacher? If so, you may be perfect for this teaching position!
The typical schedule is Monday-Friday from 7:45am to 4:15pm.
