Position Summary: Overview:
Maintain a safe secure developmentally appropriate classroom environment where children can experience success. Promote cognitive development, large and small motor skills, social skills and self-help skills. Set appropriate limits and interact with children, parents and staff in a positive, respectful manner. Maintain confidentiality. Follow all licensing rules and regulations.
Primary Responsibilities: Primary Responsibilities:

• To promote children’s self-esteem through appropriate hands-on activities, positive interaction and respect for each child’s individual worth and to guarantee safety. To understand and implement the Creative Curriculum model, using play-based learning and interest centers as the basis for a developmentally appropriate early childhood environment.

• To utilize planning time (naptime) constructively to develop activities that will enhance the cognitive, physical, emotional and social development of the children. To be directly and actively involved in activities with the children, including extending the curriculum to the playground area.

• To assess each individual child and use that information to provide challenging activities which build and strengthen individual skills using informal and formal assessment tools.

• To manage the classroom in a positive and constructive manner through use of behavioral management techniques consistent with DAP philosophy.

• Assist lead teacher and work together to promote a positive and constructive classroom through the use of behavioral management techniques.
Desired Qualifications: The successful candidate will:

• Have a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Development or closely related field (CDA plus 3 years of experience may be considered)
• Have First-Aid and CPR Certificate
• Have a valid Utah Driver’s License
• Being bilingual Spanish/English is a plus
• Obtain a Food Handler’s Permit
