Position Summary: The AmeriCorps member in this role will serve at HMK Elementary as the BEACON AmeriCorps Academic Lead to implement the academic assistance program for students in grades K-6. A hybrid schedule would allow for the member to work from home about 50% of the time to reduce the need for driving. The Academic Lead will create capacity for increased academic support, volunteer recruitment and program support. Primary Responsibilities: Research and implement best practices for academic support strategies for Kindergarten through sixth grade students.
Provide training to tutoring staff that is appropriate for grade levels and for meeting individual student needs.
Collaborate with school day staff to build targeted grade-level plans and curriculums.
Create procedural documents for each grade-level for students, staff and volunteers beginning tutoring.
Create communication plans for keeping all stakeholders (students, classroom teachers, and families) updates and involved in student progress and success.
Monitor student progress, evaluate efficacy of interventions and make changes as needed to promote student academic success.
Report on student and volunteer outcomes to grantors and the greater community.
Plan and lead workshops, homework help and/or tutoring on occasion. Substitute for tutors as needed.
Track the collection and recording of program fees.

Benefits / Why Work With Us: This position will serve under the supervision of the Elementary Programs Manager. This is an AmeriCorps position. AmeriCorps is a unique service opportunity. AmeriCorps members complete a term of service from December, 2022 through November 2023. Members will serve a minimum of 1,200 hours during this time, approximately 26 hours per week. AmeriCorps members will receive a living allowance of $14,000 during their term of service. A portion of this living allowance will be paid monthly. Additionally, upon successful completion of a term of service, AmeriCorps members will receive an education award of $4,441.
