  • Clever Octopus Inc. is a nonprofit organization dedicated to fostering creativity and environmental awareness through art, science, technology, engineering, and math. Their multitentacled approach includes the Clever Octopus Creative Reuse Center and the Octopod mobile outreach vehicle. Through these projects, Clever Octopus aims to create future leaders in art and science.

The Clever Octopus Creative Reuse Center is a retail store for art and craft supplies. The store is filled with reclaimed and reusable materials donated from businesses and individuals in and around the Wasatch Front - materials that would otherwise stay hidden in closets for decades or be sent to landfills. Whether you're a teacher, an artist, a crafter, a student, or a parent, you'll find supplies you need and supplies you never knew you needed.

The Octopod mobile outreach vehicle is a fully equipped mobile classroom, stocked with a plethora of materials for creative exploration and staffed by Clever Octopus’ artists. The Octopod hosts classes throughout the Salt Lake Valley and beyond when it visits schools, adult care facilities, residential treatment centers, community outreach programs, community festivals, and private events.

In 2020 Clever Octopus, Utah's first and only Creative Reuse Center, moved to a larger space! This new and larger campus — featuring large classrooms, community gathering spaces, combined retail/warehouse, a parking lot, and more — will allow Clever Octopus to divert more waste, provide additional creative reuse educational opportunities for youth, and adults, and lengthen their community reach.
