Position Summary: Position Summary:
The Kitchen Manager autonomously oversees the operation of a brand new year-round commercial kitchen to serve nutritious and wholesome meals to up to 300 clients and staff daily. They will manage the kitchen staff to ensure on-time meal readiness and maintain the high kitchen standards in place. They also work with and develop partnerships with local farms ensuring we meet our goals of providing as many farm to table meal components as possible. These partnerships also provide the opportunity to challenge their own culinary creativity.
Primary Responsibilities: Position Responsibilities:
• Knowledgeable about the dietary and nutritional needs of vulnerable populations of children and adults. Staying on top of healthy eating food trends.
• Building and Developing Partnerships with local farms to provide farm to table meals that meet the dietary requirements of the CACFP.
• Use culinary skills and knowledge to create a variety of fun and exciting meals for our clients and staff.
• Positive Attitude that demonstrates passion for cooking and quality and sets the tone for staff behavior and positive work environment.
• Physical Stamina to work on your feet for long periods of time and balance multiple physically demanding responsibilities.
• Attention to Detail, Time Management, and Ability to Multi-task. During the course of the day prepare food and ensure meal quality, manage staff, monitor supplies, oversee inventory, order food, comply with health and safety regulations, comply with all regulations set forth by the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP), complete production records, and work with vendors and partner organizations.
• Problem Solving. Fast thinking and quick solutions with the ability to resolve issues as they happen in an efficient way by quickly assessing the situation, proposing resolutions, and implementing solutions.
• Cost Conscious. Keep food quality high while keeping costs in line. Compare food costs, price per meal, portion control, waste management, and efficiency in operations, staff time on clock, and other ways to save money.
• Communication Skills Share thoughts in clear and concise ways, resolve issues, give directions, listen intently, offer feedback and support, and relay important information in a way others will easily understand.
• Innovative and ready to share new ideas, stay current on changes in dietary recommendations and design new menu items, create new systems and ways to improve operations, be open to other’s ideas, and adopt styles to simplify processes.
Desired Qualifications: Position Requirements:
• At least 2 years’ experience managing a kitchen
• Current Food Handlers Permit required
• Prefer ServSafe Manager Certification, must be obtained within first 6 months of employment
• Ability to become Certified Food Manager with Salt Lake County
• Prior CACFP experience preferred
• Prefer food ordering and inventory management experience
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and database management software
• Prefer bilingual English/Spanish
