Position Summary: The Crisis Line intern will assist in the daily operations of the Rape Recovery Center’s crisis line program. The intern will be responsible for providing direct service on the 24/7 crisis line, data entry, and compiling trends.
Primary Responsibilities: - Intern will learn how to empower survivors of sexual assault by providing advocacy, validation, coping mechanisms, and emotional support over the phone on the Rape Recovery Center 24-hour crisis line
- Represent the Rape Recovery Center with a professional image and manner.
- Intern will learn to be mindfully present and work to understand each client’s individual needs and assist them accordingly.
- Seek out information to be effective in the advocate role and make appropriate referrals based on each client’s individual needs.
- Complete shift reports on time to help collect data and track call trends.
- Assist in providing support to crisis line volunteers as needed
- Work with RRC staff, volunteers, and community partners in a collaborative, respectful fashion that further strengthens the relationship RRC has with those agencies.
- Assist with administrative tasks such as filing, data entry, record keeping, etc.
- Attendance at weekly staff meetings is highly encouraged, though not mandatory.
Desired Qualifications: - Graduate or undergraduate student in psychology, behavioral science, public health, criminal justice, gender studies, or related field
- Have a working knowledge of community resources and services available.
- Confidence and competency in knowledge base and people skills.
- Crisis response experience.

* Conditions*

- The intern must obtain a 40-hour crisis counselor certification within 90-days or next available training through the Utah Coalition Against Sexual Assault (UCASA).
- The intern must pass a background check.
- Committed to the values of RRC, including anti-oppression and anti-racism.
