Job Summary: As an AmeriCorps member, the pay, called a “living stipend", will be split up & distributed over the period of 12 months twice a month on the 7th & 22nd until you are no longer in the program.

This is a Full -time contract/commitment for one year (12 months) with a minimum of 1,700 hours.

Upon successful completion of the contract, minimum hours and satisfactory fulfillment of the one year contract, you would be eligible for an Education Award. The Education Award may be used to either further your education or pay on previously accrued Federal student loans.

While serving as an AmeriCorps member, if you have Federal Student loans, they may qualify for forbearance and any taxes accrued will be paid by the National Corporation (Trust) at the end of your 12 month contract. This position also has Health Care (subject to eligibility).

The County High Rise, owned and operated by Housing Connect, is seeking a full-time AmeriCorps member to assist in serving the 151 elderly and disabled households residing at County High Rise Apartment Complex. The AmeriCorps member will play a vital role, alongside the Services Coordinator and Property Manager in linking these residents to onsite programming such as workshops, health care, technology assistance, and resources for elderly and low income populations. Applicants must have an interest in the social service field and must be reliable and compassionate.

Work Schedule: Monday through Friday – Hours are Flexible between 8:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.
Primary Responsibilities: Work with and supports elderly and disabled residents in their efforts towards self-sufficiency by assisting with meeting housing recertification annually, readiness for housing inspections, employment searches when needed, and connecting to community resources.
Conduct strengths/needs assessment to determine community needs, as directed by the Services Coordinator.
Hold regular walk-in hours to assess needs and make appropriate referrals to existing services and partner agencies.
Assist residents in applying for and maintaining benefits.
Coordinate with Property Management, Housing Connect staff and partner agencies to ensure clients are receiving appropriate services.
Point of contact for onsite employment training program by assisting with application submission, tracking hours and submitting weekly timecards to accounting.
Promote workshops, classes and programs offered onsite. This includes various health education workshops, personal safety, financial education and estate planning, and work related opportunities for seniors and disabled residents.
Help create and distribute event notices.
Perform other duties, as assigned.
Desired Qualifications: Requirements:

Must have basic computer skills, typing and Microsoft Word knowledge. Excel is a plus.
Must be in possession of a valid driver’s license and good driving record to be able to drive agency vehicles to transport residents as needed.

Issues impacting individuals that are elderly and/or disabled.
Methods and techniques of effective case management and assessment skills.
Social service programs and community resources.
Ability to:
