Job Description: Roseman University of Health Sciences is seeking applicants for an Adult Acute Care/Surgical Trauma pharmacy practice faculty position at the South Jordan, Utah campus and Intermountain Medical Center in Murray, Utah. The full time faculty member at Roseman University is responsible for the coordination, planning, preparation, and presentation, of classroom instruction and related activities. The faculty member will be required to provide direct patient care in an in-patient hospital setting and precept up to 14 Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experience (APPE) students each academic year. The faculty member is responsible for performing assigned duties during the day, evening, or weekend as required. At a minimum, the related activities include classroom instruction, student remediation, and committee service. Participating in local, state, regional, and national professional activities and organizations is also expected. A faculty member performs all other duties as directed by the President, Chancellor, Pharmacy College Dean, Associate Dean(s), Assistant Dean(s), or any designated individual serving in an appropriately identified supervisory capacity for a particular activity.

Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions)
• Coordinate, plan, organize, and instruct courses in the day, evening, or on weekends on any Roseman University campus as assigned.
• Assist in the college’s library collection development by selecting, evaluating, and weeding library resources in each appropriate discipline.
• Teach all classes/blocks according to an approved course syllabus.
• Conduct student evaluations and complete other college evaluations in accordance with college policy.
• Participate in program and curriculum review and development and student learning outcomes initiatives.
• Study and utilize students’ learning styles in each class in order to facilitate the best teaching and learning situations.
• Incorporate instructional technologies in instructional delivery.
• Keep informed of current trends and new approaches to instruction via professional development activities.
• Assist in recruitment and retention of students.
• Precept up to 14 APPE students each academic year.
• Provide patient care in an Adult Acute Care inpatient hospital setting.
• Be available to conference with students during regular working hours and other times as scheduled.
• Submit required reports to the appropriate college personnel.
• Attend all faculty meetings, open forums, professional development and orientation activities, and other meetings as called by the President, Chancellor, College Dean.
• Become thoroughly familiar and comply with all university and college policies and procedures.
• Serve on and provide information to college committees as needed.
• Be actively involved in the co-curricular activities of the college and university.
• Regular attendance is an essential function of the job.
• Reliable and timely with the expectation of 40+hours per week on site.
• May be required to perform other duties as assigned.

The Acute Care/Surgical Trauma Pharmacist Faculty Position will provide comprehensive pharmaceutical care to patients admitted to the surgical stepdown floor. Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Collaborating with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to promote medication use that is evidence-based and aligned with national quality indicators.
• Reviewing medication orders for accuracy and appropriateness.
• Monitoring drug therapy to evaluate appropriateness pharmacotherapy regimen.
• Providing consultation to patients regarding specific medications and drug interactions.
• Establishing a leadership role in the teaching programs of the Department of Pharmacy Services and Colleges of Pharmacy as they are related to critical care medicine.
• Educating caregivers and provide by providing ongoing staff development related to safe and effective medication use.

• Doctor of Pharmacy Degree from an ACPE-accredited College of Pharmacy.
• Applicants must be eligible for pharmacy licensure in Utah and be able to dispense controlled substances.
• Current knowledge of state and federal regulations and statutes regarding the practice of pharmacy and the distribution of approved drugs, controlled substances, and investigational agents.
• Maintains competency in unique aspects of drug therapy for critically ill patients.
• Board Certification preferred.
• BLS and ACLS certification preferred.
• Specialty Residency in Surgical Trauma, Pharmacy Practice Residency, or 3 years’ experience in a Surgical Trauma environment preferred.

Work Conditions
• Work is primarily indoors, but requires the incumbent to be in an outdoor environment when traveling between local campus buildings, off campus, and to other Roseman University facilities out-of-state.
• Performing duties and attending events outside the normally scheduled work hours occasionally occurs and is required.
• Traveling off-campus to a local, state, regional and/or national event, as well as travel to other Roseman campuses or facilities occurs occasionally and is required.
• Incumbent may be exposed to frequent noise caused by telephones, office machines, and nearby oral communications among University personnel and/or students.

Required Physical Abilities
• Ability to bend, stoop, reach, stand, move from one area of the building to another on a regular basis, sit and use a computer for a long period of time.
• Manual and physical dexterity needed to operate a computer keyboard and handle paper documents.
• Sufficient near vision acuity to read information appearing on computer display screen, hand-written forms, and printed on paper.
• Adequate hearing and verbal abilities to communicate effectively in person and by telephone.
• Ability to lift and carry a stack of forms and documents weighing up to 25 pounds.
