Position Summary: Job Description:
The Immigration Program offers legal services to immigrants, refugees and asylum seekers. The Assistant will provide clerical support to the Immigration Program and often work directly with clients at the direction of and with the supervision of legal staff
Primary Responsibilities: Responsibilities include:
1. Responsible for many clerical duties including maintenance of client files (digital files and physical files), scheduling appointments, communicating with clients and taking messages for legal staff via email and phone.
2. Performs paralegal duties under the supervision of legal staff. These duties include meeting with clients directly to collect documents and client information to input into legal forms, collecting client responses to questionnaires, and the mailing of applications.
3. Communicates clearly with clients and community partners about eligibility for CCS Immigration Program services.
4. Coordinates with MRS case management staff to help clients reach milestones and objectives.
5. Documents all case work in the client’s file or the electronic filing system.
6. Offers interpretation and translation services as necessary.
7. Maintains strict attorney/client confidentiality.


Work Environment – inside/outside, office, warehouse, noise, temperature, etc.
• This position is in a professional office environment using standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.
• Some local travel is required.

Physical Demands including bending, sitting, lifting and driving
1. This is largely a sedentary role and applicants must have the capacity to perform several hours of data entry without restriction. The position also requires filing of documents and applicants should have an ability to lift file boxes (weight between 25-45 pounds), open filing cabinets, kneel, bend, reach or stand as necessary.
2. This role includes driving locally.

9. High level proficiency in computer skills to maintain digital files and databases, spreadsheets, scheduling, email and Office 365 program.
10. Attention to detail and accuracy.
11. Personal qualities of openness and respect for co-workers and clients, with compassion and graciousness in helping clients to assess and face their situations and to accept acceptance.
12. Language proficiency in Spanish.

Education, training, or experience:
1. Paralegal certification or bachelor's degree.
2. Efficient keyboarding and data entry skills are required.
3. Experience working in refugee case management, or a law office preferred.

Background Screen/BCI requirement
1. Must be able to pass a national BCI/FBI background check.

Licenses, certifications and credentials
1. Current Utah driver’s license, proof of auto insurance, 21 years of age or older, a clean driving record, and ability to meet CCS vehicle safety and auto insurance requirements. Position status and expected schedule

Position status and expected schedule
• This is a full-time position (40 hours a week) and non-exempt position.
• Monday through Friday 8:30 am to 5:00 pm.
