Position Summary: Join an amazing team working to improve equitable access to service families and individuals within our community. United Way 2-1-1 is a free, confidential referral and information service that helps connect people to local community resources, programs, and human services. United Way 2-1-1 provides people with information and support- whether financial, domestic, health, or disaster-related. We believe in the highest quality customer service to serve all people in our community. Our 2-1-1 is a central force for good within our organization and provides many opportunities for the growth and development of employees wanting to expand their understanding and skills within the health and human services field.

Work Schedule: Typically Monday thru Friday 8:15 am to 5:15 pm, hour lunch, some nights and weekends

Hourly rate: $16/hour
Primary Responsibilities: Duties & Responsibilities:

Assist callers who are seeking human services, whose needs may include but are not limited to health, housing, food assistance, mental health, etc provided within our resource database.
Become knowledgeable of resources and services in the community to provide accurate and relevant information to callers.
Help callers to understand the navigation of resources and advocate for themselves with appropriate referrals.
Work with the Community Liaison in outreach efforts to raise community awareness using community events and opportunities to promote the usage of 211.
Research and update agency information in the database to assure accurate and timely information.
Contribute to our 2-1-1 social media campaign with stories, highlights, and community issues.
Help with additional projects, such as (Day of Caring, Sub for Santa, etc) to help with the mission of United Way strives to improve lives by mobilizing the caring power of communities.
Desired Qualifications: Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in social services or human services, or minimum 2-3 years related experience in human service, non-profit or other related field preferred
Spanish speaker a plus


Handle crisis situations and deal with difficult inquiries
Skilled in advanced customer service and problem-solving
Ability to communicate and work effectively with individuals with diverse backgrounds, needs, and communication styles
Provide active listening, empathy, and other customer service techniques
Advocate for those needing support within the community
Ability to prioritize and complete tasks in a timely manner
Basic knowledge of social media
Ability to learn computer programs and software quickly
