Job Summary: The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for performing HR-related duties on a professional level and works closely with the Director of Human Resources. This position carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: department development, Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS), employee relations, training and development, onboarding, performance management, benefit administration, compensation, policy implementation, and recruitment/employment. This includes ensuring proper communication, understanding and application of company programs, policies and procedures. The HR Generalist will model an outstanding work ethic, excellence in people skills and have a high degree of integrity.
Primary Responsibilities: :
- Act as the first point of HR contact for Aquarium employees.
- Assist in the development and administration of the human resources policies, procedures and programs.
- Responsible for the full cycle recruitment of non-exempt employees and the onboarding of all employees.
- Administer and communicate benefits programs to include claims resolution, and change reporting.
- Maintain and audit human resources files and HRIS records.
- Responsible for Workers’ Comp and OSHA compliance
- Leave of Absence Management and Accommodation Management.
- Assist and support Employee Engagement initiatives such as employee appreciation events, Town Hall meetings, employee surveys, and employee recognition.
- Coach managers on the Performance Counseling process and forms.
- Oversee performance evaluation program.
- Respond to requests for employment verifications.
- Maintain HR process documentation.
- Assist in creating an environment that provides a world-class experience for guests as well as staff.
- Act as an advocate for the staff.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications: :
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent years of relevant experience in the HR field.
- Must have at least two (2) years’ experience in Human Resources. Recruiting and/or training experience preferred.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Knowledge of Federal and State employment laws.
- Exceptional customer service, a sense of urgency, and detail orientation is required.
- Ability to handle highly sensitive material and maintain confidential information with a high degree of professionalism.
- Self-motivated and takes initiative to improve current processes and procedures.
- Sharp attention to detail and organization skills.
- Outstanding facilitation and presentation skills preferred.
