Job Summary: First Step House is hiring a full time SUDC. The substance use disorder counselor will work directly with clients to provide substance use disorder treatment and counseling services. They are responsible for providing individual counseling, facilitating life skills classes, and offering case management services. The individuals served are those struggling with substance use disorders, as well as serious mental illness. All duties performed are done so under the clinical supervision of their assigned clinical supervisor, and other appropriately licensed supervisors.

This is a part time role at our new Permanent supportive housing for the persistently mentally ill. Onsite with full Covid protection measures taken.

Duties in this role listed below but not limited to:
Primary Responsibilities: Core Competencies

Provides alcohol/drug abuse counseling and education to clients
Knowledge of different modalities (CBT, Motivational Interviewing)
Have working knowledge of their fields' ethical codes and behaviors.
Provides support to clients; identifies and describes available treatment services and resources within First Step House, in addition to providing external resources that may assist with client needs.
Works as part of a multidisciplinary team to develop client treatment plans .
Conducts timely Treatment Plan Reviews (including assessment of ASAM dimensions and the appropriate narrative documentation) in order to evaluate areas of risk and identify changes to be made, working mutually with client to identify strengths, weaknesses, problems, and needs for the progressive development of client treatment plan and clinical intervention. Then obtains appropriate clinical sign off of these reviews through designated workflows.
Case Management Services
Data management and systems (UWITS, excel tracking system)
Mediation/ Conflict Resolution skills/ Crisis Management skills (MI, de-escalation strategies, etc.)
Population specific knowledge (SUD and Serious Mental Illness conditions)
Desired Qualifications: Must be licensed in the state of Utah with DOPL as an active SUDC, or ASUDC.
