Job Summary: SUMMARY OF WORK:
Under the direct supervision of the Urban Indian Center of Salt Lake (UICSL) Executive Director the Quality Improvement Compliance Officer will lead and direct all quality and risk management activities and ensure that a framework for quality and compliance is in place at UICSL.
Primary Responsibilities: DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Maintains, develops, and revises policies and procedures for the overall operation of the Compliance Program, Quality Improvement Program and Risk Management Program.
• Manages day-to-day operations of the Compliance Program, Quality Improvement Program and Risk Management Program.
• Oversees process to prepare for and lead Indian Health Service (IHS) annual reviews and AAAHC accreditation.
• Facilitates the Quality Improvement (QI) Committee (which includes Compliance and Risk Management). A primary function of the QI Committee is to review and manage Quality Improvement Opportunities and Incident reports including the corrective action plan/recommendation.
• Develops, implements, and maintains monitoring systems for all Quality Improvement opportunities for departments on agency wide improvement initiatives.
• Train staff as needed to meet the standards of the Compliance Program, Quality Improvement Program and Risk Management Program, in addition to various policies and procedures.
• Provides reports on a regular basis, and as directed or requested, to keep the QI Committee, the Board and executive management informed of the operation and progress of compliance efforts, quality improvement outcomes measures and improvement and risk management.
• Coordinates audit processes that includes reviewing, analyzing and reporting findings and collaborates with the respective departments and leadership.
• Monitors all Incident Reports and Risk Management issues for the organization. This includes tracking data and analysis of each incident, works with management to resolve incidents and provides a monthly report to the CEO and QI committee.
• Coordinates and assists with the state Licensure process; follows up on all reported deficiencies.
• Establishes a mechanism to report compliance concerns confidentially with the appropriate Leadership Team member(s).
• Collaborates with other departments to direct compliance issues/concerns to appropriate channels for evaluation, investigation and resolution.
• Responds to direct and alleged violations of rules, regulations, policies, procedures, and Standards of Conduct by evaluating or recommending the initiation of investigative procedures.
• Works with the clinical staff to ensure accurate GPRA and UDS reporting.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications: REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Healthcare Management, Public Health, Nursing or a closely related field, with 5 years of experience in a healthcare organization, with demonstrated leadership and independent thinking skills.
• Master’s Degree preferred, with 2 years of experience in a healthcare organization, with demonstrated leadership and independent thinking skills.
• Familiarity with health care operations, financial, quality assurance, and human resources procedures and regulations.
• CPR, First Aid, and HIPAA Certification (can be acquired before and/or after hire)
• Knowledge of and a genuine respect for American Indian/Alaska Native values, customs, and practices.
• Must have valid Utah driver’s license or ability to obtain upon hire.
• Must have a clean driving record and ability to be insured on UICSL auto policy.
• Must have a clean criminal background report & Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance and obtain a Fingerprint Clearance Card.
• Must have a current immunization record.
