Job Summary: UHPP’s Health Policy Fellow (HPF) is a 10-month part to full time position.

Recent college graduates, students currently enrolled in graduate programs, and recent graduate school graduates encouraged to apply.
Primary Responsibilities: HPF will work will UHPP’s policy team as a consumer advocate for health-care reform in Utah. HPF is responsible for analyzing health policy related policy initiatives, writing position statements, and other activities related to the goal of promoting effective implementation of health reform and other health system changes. The HPF may advocate for and serve as public representative for UHPP on health policy objectives; this includes but is not limited to working with media reporters, community groups, and other stakeholders and members of the public. The HPF will assist with organizational development needs, including work on grants and fundraising events. The HPF will also perform other duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications: Education: Bachelor’s Degree in related field preferred

Effective Communication: Speak, listen and write in a clear, thorough and timely manner; comfortable speaking extemporaneously in the public setting

Adaptability: Demonstrate a willingness to be flexible in changing environment while maintaining effectiveness and attention to detail

Relationship Building: Positive mindset and ability to maintain strong working relationships with coworkers, community members, partners, policy-makers, government officials and staff, and other stakeholders

Background Knowledge: Must be knowledgeable about state and federal health policy, especially Medicaid and/or dental policy

Experience: Experience with the legislative process, research and writing, project planning, and work experience in a nonprofit or government organization preferred

Self-Starter/Problem Solving: Comfort level and desire to work independently, initiating and carrying out job duties; ability and wiliness to learn quickly, accurately assess situations to determine importance, urgency and risk, making timely decisions/recommendations

Wage and Benefits: Wage depends on experience/education ($16-$20 per hour), 15 vacation days, 5 sick days, 12 holidays,
