Status: Non-Exempt, Part-time with limited benefits

Salary: $14-14.50/hr DOE

Catholic Community Services of Utah provides help and creates hope for thousands of people of all beliefs who are most in need in our community through Migration and Refugee Services, Homeless Services and CCS of Northern Utah programs.

Job Description:

Provide administrative and clerical support to the Ogden Immigration Attorney.

Responsibilities include:

Provide direct services to victims of crimes who qualify for immigration services in Spanish or English.
Translate documents from Spanish to English.
Maintain and organized immigration files.
Other duties as assigned.

Work Environment inside/outside, office, warehouse, noise, temperature, etc.

This position is in a professional office environment using standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.

Physical Demands including bending, sitting, lifting and driving

This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, carry 25 pounds, open filing cabinets and bend, reaching or standing as necessary.

Skills, knowledge and abilities:

Commitment to the mission of Catholic Community Services of Utah (CCS) and the immigration and refugee resettlement programs.
Experience working as a paralegal, victim advocate, social worker or community educator preferred.
Ability to communicate clearly verbally and in writing in both English and Spanish.
Must be able to demonstrate an ability to maintain confidentiality regarding client cases.
Advanced word processing and computer skills required. Applicants should not require training in how to operate Microsoft Word or Excel and it is preferred that applicants be able to demonstrate a basic familiarity with Access.
It is preferred that applicants be able to demonstrate personal qualities of openness, compassion, and graciousness when helping clients assess and face legal obstacles.
Must demonstrate organizational and planning skills and have the ability to prioritize tasks and responsibilities.
Must demonstrate problem solving skills.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Education, training and or experience:

Paralegal certification or Bachelor's Degree preferred, but not required.
Proficiency in Spanish and English.
Knowledge of relevant MS Office applications; Excel proficiency is mandatory and Access experience is preferred.
Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook.
Keyboarding and data entry skills.
Knowledge of office management systems and procedures.
Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures.
Experience working in a law office preferred.

Background Screen/BCI requirement

Must pass national BCI/FBI background check.
Licenses, certifications and credentials

Current Utah driver's license, proof of auto insurance with minimum policy liability limits of $50,000 per person and $100,000 per occurrence, 21 years of age or older, a clean driving record, and ability to meet CCS vehicle safety requirements.

Position status and expected schedule

This is a part time position, 20 hours per week position. Must be able to travel AND work some nights and weekends.
