Job Description: Position Description:
This position will be directly responsible for the individual volunteers for the Family Support Center. The Volunteer Coordinator will organize, manage, and coordinate individual volunteers throughout the agency as appropriate.

Hours:
Part-time, up to 20 hours a week

Requirements:
• 18+ Years of Age
• Department of Human Services Background Check (Finger Prints Required)
• CPR & First Aid Certification (To Take Once Hired)
• TB Test (To Take Once Hired)

Duties:
• With Volunteer & Engagement Director, develop an annual volunteer goal and plan to meet that goal by working with higher education institutions, corporations, service organizations, and individuals.
• Coordinate with the directors of each department to identify volunteer needs.
• Ensure a positive experience for volunteers through precise planning and coordination with FSC staff.
• Lead volunteers, individuals and occasionally groups, on agency projects as required and appropriate.
• Identify, develop, and execute public relations plan through area radio, TV, newspaper and other available media to increase volunteers.
• Maintain FSC volunteer database and keep accurate records of volunteer background check investigations, interests, hours, and opportunities.
• Serve as backup representative to other area coalitions in absence of Volunteer & Engagement Director, as assigned.
• Attend all administrative, staff, agency meetings and other meetings as assigned.
• Coordinate and assist agency with wish list donation drives; assisting with list distribution, presentation to groups, and coordinating transportation of items if necessary.
• Collect, manage, and maintain all volunteer hours along with agency in-kind donation forms.
• Coordinate volunteer communications through face-to-face meetings, newsletters, and electronic communication.
• Manage and maintain procedures for the volunteer engagement process, including the coordination of: volunteer recruitment, applications, orientations, opportunity placement, background checks, and staff engagement.
• Coordinate with Human Resources Director on background checks, TB testing, and other requirements as deemed necessary for volunteer or intern placement.
• Coordinate and assist the Volunteer & Engagement Director and Grants Administrator with special events and marketing needs.
• Coordinate with any programs requiring grant matches of volunteer time or in-kind contributions.
• Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
• Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
• Committed to the mission of the Family Support Center
• Ability to maintain detailed records and confidential information
• Ability to lift 30 pounds, sit for extended periods of time, and engage in active volunteer projects (i.e. yard work, donation sorting, childcare, etc.)
• Able to present to small and large groups about the agency
Additional Comments:
• Assist with front desk duties such as meeting and greeting clients, donors, and other walk-ins.
• Transportation to all agency locations to meet and train volunteers is necessary.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, Internet, Publisher, PowerPoint, E-mail, and web design platforms.

Training Provided:
Training will take place with the Volunteer & Engagement Director during the first week of the start date and along the way. Start date is dependent on background check clearance. Additionally, all staff will complete the four-hour Learning the Agency Culture program within the first four weeks of hire. Staff participate in an agency annual day of training and quarterly meetings.

Mission Related:
As a local nonprofit, the Family Support Center relies on its staff and volunteers to help deliver the agency mission of protecting children, strengthening families, and preventing child abuse in a trauma informed manner. Volunteer participation with the Family Support Center is necessary and vital to ensuring we meet the needs of our clients and community members. Volunteers not only provide a critical human resource, but they ensure that the clients and children we serve are cared for and protected. Volunteers also provide an important link to our community and assist us in fostering awareness for child abuse prevention. Your support in this position will ensure we are able to provide solid volunteer engagements.
