Job Summary: Provide all accounting processes for a non-profit organization with annual grants and revenue of $700,000 - $800,000.
Primary Responsibilities: 1. Responsible for managing the accounting and auditing functions, ensuring accurate and timely financial information.
2. Provide payroll information to out-sourced payroll company.
3. Prepare monthly financial statements, including variance analyses.
4. Forecast expenditures for budget year end.
5. Assist the Executive Director in the preparation and monitoring of all of the organizations budgets and forecasts and assist with budget amendments as needed.
6. Monitor and true-up the federally approved indirect cost rate. Submit the annual indirect cost rate proposal to the Program Support Center.
7. Perform routine calculations to produce analyses and reports as requested by the executive director or Board.
8. Review and audit financial statements and reports, ensure all calculations and data entries are correct.
9. Reconcile any discrepancies or errors.
10. Prepare information, invoices and forms required for grant reimbursement from various federal and state agencies.
11. Provide month end closing.
12. Schedule and provide all needed information for an annual internal audit.
13. Maintain fixed-asset inventory.
14. Report any troubling discoveries or suspicion of wrongdoing to the proper authorities.
15. Adhere to the organization’s financial policies and procedures.
16. Communicate accounting policies to affected employees and ensure compliance with such policies.
17. Attend 6 board meetings annually. Typically held the 3rd Monday every other month at 10:00 am.
18. Suggest changes or improvements to increase accuracy, and efficiency with accounting protocols.
Desired Qualifications: * Bachelor degree in accounting and 3 years’ experience with non-profit cost accounting, federal and state grant management, federal and state regulations, indirect cost rate agreements, and computer skills, particularly with QuickBooks, spreadsheets and calculation software.
