Position Summary: The Financial and Accounting Analyst performs basic to moderately complex accounting, reporting and analysis. This position is a lead accountant in investment and endowment accounting and general reporting, and works closely with Controller. The position also performs project accounting, financial analysis & reporting as well as ad hoc analyses and annual surveys.
Primary Responsibilities: ACCOUNTING AND REPORTING
- Prepare and/or review monthly journal entries of the assigned area
- Perform assigned monthly closing duties
- Assist Controller in developing monthly income statement, balance sheet and cash flow statement
- Assist in Controller and VP of finance to develop financial matrix to monitor the financial health of the organization
- Reconcile debt accounts, J/E as necessary and prepare monthly loan and debt payment and amortization schedule
- Prepare Balance Sheet Indicators report
- Prepare audit work paper of the assigned areas
- Prepare and submit external report and surveys (IPEDS, Tuition Discount report, and Study of Endowments, etc.)

- Monthly journal entries of changes in investment and fees, transfer excess cash as necessary, monitor and J/E trust accounts, and prepare a quarterly Investment report.
- Endowment accounting; use the external endowment accounting system to track, monitor, and record endowment assets and income.
- Prepare a quarterly report for board of Trustees and Institutional Advancement
- Annuities and Trusts: Obtain statements, monitor, and make J/E, and develop reporting
- Handle capital calls
- Assist VP of Finance to review and update the annual Endowment spending, and obtain Trustees’ approval

- Develop and perform gift, endowment, and pledge accounting process to ensure timely and accurate recording
- work closely with Institutional Advancement team to ensure data recognized in IA is properly reflected on the accounting system,
- Record restricted and unrestricted contribution, pledges, promise to give, and non-cash contribution in accordance with the generally accepted accounting principles.
- Develop and maintain monthly and quarterly reporting

- Track and monitor budget vs. actual of individual projects (capital, strategic, and other projects)
- Work closely with project owners to inform the financial status of the project
- Develop monthly reports and disseminate to stakeholders

- Will be the lead person to navigate and monitor the Enrollment model.
- Work with the Enrollment and Provost team to reflect data into our enrollment model

Have an understanding of the current Chart of Accounts and work with Controller to determine the effectiveness and appropriateness of accounts. Proactively engage in the COA review process

- Prepare the yearly financial aid scholarship awards and restricted binders for the audit
- Oversee all fixed assets, maintain the asset list for the college and prepare the yearly capitalization for year end
- Create and balance the current financial information to the general ledger, prepare quarterly and annual financial reports

Desired Qualifications: -Bachelor’s degree and related accounting experience and/or training
-Minimum of 4 years related experience
-Advanced Excel spreadsheet and database skills
-High level of analytical and critical thinking skills and problem solving abilities
-Ability to handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
