Pay Range: $40K annually /30hrs per week
Organization's Mission: Jewish Family Service (JFS) is a nondenominational, nonprofit, social service organization that supports all Utahns as they navigate life’s challenges – illness, aging, financial uncertainty, mental health concerns, family problems, or personal issues. Our mission is to strengthen individuals and families of all backgrounds through counseling, advocacy, care management, and community education.
Position Summary: This 30hr per week position supports fundraising goals through government, foundation, and corporate giving and is responsible for researching and writing proposals, grant reports, renewal requests, and letters of inquiry to foundations and other funding sources. This position works in close collaboration with the Director of Development, Executive Director, staff, and board leadership.
Primary Responsibilities: • Write, edit, and format letters of inquiry, grant proposals, foundation reports, and other components of grant submissions, both independently and in collaboration with JFS staff.
• Maintain current records in GrantHub database, including grant tracking and reporting.
• Prepare quarterly, six month, and annual reports as required by granting agencies.
• Ensuring that proposals are formatted, packaged, and submitted in
accordance with granting foundation requirements.
• Conduct foundation and other prospect research in line with JFS mission and needs.
• Generate and format financial information, including budgets and financial reports, for proposals and reports, in collaboration with JFS staff; work with JFS Bookkeeper to obtain necessary financial requirements,
including, but not limited, to an annual operating budget, program budgets, profit and loss statements, and balance sheets for funding requests and reports.
• Maintain and cultivate relationships with funders.
Desired Qualifications: • Bachelors preferred with 3+ years of grant writing experience in non-profit sector.
• Excellent writing, communication and organizational skills and strong time management skills; Experience in
a community based nonprofit setting preferred.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects at once, be detail-oriented, and work well under deadlines.
• Ability to establish effective working relationships and communications with staff members, external contacts, and donors at all levels.
• Ability to safeguard confidential information and perform with a high-level of discretion, professionalism, and integrity.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with grant management software preferred.
