Position Summary: The Major Gifts Officer is responsible for planning and implementing a major gift fundraising program to secure funding for the mission driven work of UtahPresents. The MGO works closely with the Executive Director on establishing, building, and maintaining donor relationships through face-to-face interactions. Additionally, as part of the external relations team, the Major Gifts Officer works collaboratively to support other functions which contribute to the overall mission of UtahPresents. Primary Responsibilities: Manage Major Gifts and larger individual gifts

Build and manage a portfolio of approximately 100 major gift prospects

Averages 5-8 face to face visits per month which result in significant progress towards major gifts or the qualification of new prospects
Research and develop plans and strategies for major gifts, including planned giving
Conduct stewardship activities, including preparing correspondence and reports
In collaboration with the Executive director, develop proposals, gift agreements and make direct asks to donors

Manage the levelUP program

In collaboration with the Campaign Manager generate campaign ideas to grow membership

Manage and overseeing the execution of member benefits
Identify members to cultivate for larger gifts
Manage the Corporate Sponsorship program

Research and identify corporate sponsor prospects

Solicit sponsorships, often in collaboration with Advisory Board members
Plan and manage the relevant development income goals and expense budgets in cooperation with Campaign Manager
Ensure fundraising efforts are donor centric, including continuing education in fundraising best practices
Assist in organizing and implementing fundraising campaigns and projects with the external relations team
In collaboration with the Campaign Manager and Event Manager, plan and manage UtahPresents special donor/sponsor events
In collaboration with the Executive Director, manage Advisory Board activities
Modeling the One U mission, explore and create collaborative partnerships and cross promotional opportunities with other cultural organizations, universities, and U of U departments, particularly the College of Fine Arts
Participate in regular departmental meetings
Represent UtahPresents at appropriate University of Utah and community activities and committees
Monitors gift accounts, including endowed and expendable funds to ensure that they are being managed in accordance with the donor’s gift agreements
Attend appropriate events/performances
Desired Qualifications: Strong communications and organizational skills
Adept at various methods of donor contact, including phone calls/texts, emails, and face to face meetings
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work enthusiastically with a wide range of individuals to foster productive partnerships and relationships
Computer skills, including Microsoft Office and an ability to learn development and ticketing specific software
Possess good judgment, sensitivity, analytical skills, the ability to multi-task and prioritize
Must be tenacious, flexible and possess a sense of humor
Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and discreet judgment
Ability to work without supervision and to make independent judgments
Ability to work within a complex system and coordinate with appropriate departments
Attention to detail and follow-through

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Business, or a related area or equivalency (2 years related work experience may be substituted for 1 year of education). Four years of experience in high-end repeat sales or direct fund-raising required. Demonstrated human relations and effective communications skills also required. Fund-raising or repeat sales experience that demonstrates the ability to successfully establish long term relationships with high-end customers is preferred.
