Summary of Position

The Donor Relations Specialist is a vital member of the Resource Development (fundraising) team to strengthen relationships with companies and individual donors. This position will lead the organization’s strategy and implementation of converting to the Salesforce customer relations management software. This is a new and essential role to strengthen and modernize United Way’s volunteer and donor management.

Reports to Vice President of Resource Development. Works closely with CEO, Finance Director, and Corporate Engagement & Marketing Director.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time, hourly position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. This position may require long hours, including early morning meetings, evening events, and weekend work during peak times.
Primary Responsibilities: Essential Functions

Salesforce CRM Manager

Create strategy and implementation of the organization’s new CRM software with Salesforce for nonprofits.
Build custom reports, dashboards, and workflows. Help set up groups, assignments, protocols to assign tasks to staff for better engagement with companies, major givers, and community leaders.
Train and assist other users in the organization to use CRM software for donor relations and volunteer management.
Offer recommendations for tactics and even additional software integrations with Salesforce to modernize the organization’s donation processing and customer service.
Finances and Donation Records

All donations to the organization will be recorded in Salesforce by the Donor Relations Specialist.
Import pledge results, enter in donation details, and ensure donors’ contact accuracy.
Follow up with accounts who are behind in payments on pledges and assist Finance Director with the annual audit.
Corporate and Individual Donor Relations

Develop relationships with company accounts, manage employee giving campaigns, and assist with Tier 1 company campaigns as needed
Responsible for tracking and mapping the donor journey. Manage communications after the donation is made, including thank you email/letter, tax receipt or pledge confirmation email, assign phone call or follow up meetings with CEO or VP, etc.
Assist with other United Way tasks as assigned, such as Sub For Santa, Day of Caring, etc.

Work Environment/Physical Activity

This job operates in a professional office environment with limited opportunities for remote work.
Valid driver’s license, verifiable auto insurance, cell phone, and use of a personal vehicle required.
While performing this job, the incumbent typically spends time sitting, walking, standing, listening, speaking, writing, and operating a personal computer. Occasionally, he/she is expected to lift and carry office records and supplies up to 15 lbs. Desired Qualifications: Preferred Education

Bachelor’s degree in business, information systems, communications, or other relevant fields. Or relevant work experience in place of a degree.


Experience with Salesforce CRM.
Fundraising or sales experience preferred.
Commitment to the mission of United Way of Utah County.
Drivers License and reliable transportation as work travel may be required.
Demonstrated success working independently and with a team.
Proven ability to successfully execute a plan utilizing strategic thinking.
Proactive problem solver and a quick learner.
Experience with and ability to learn new technologies relating to fundraising, customer relationships, communications, and finances.
Superb communications skills (written and verbal) with an ability to relate with a diverse group of individuals or organizations effectively.
Significant experience and comfort in Excel is a requirement.
High-energy, outcome-focused individual with a positive “can-do” outlook who can manage ambiguity and change.
Benefits / Why Work for Us: Compensation/Benefits

$16.50 to 18/hour, depending on experience. Increased compensation possible if become certified Salesforce Administrator.

The organization can pay for Salesforce Administrator Certification if the candidate is seeking certification.
