Position Summary: Red Butte Garden is seeking an Assistant Volunteer Coordinator to assist in all aspects of managing the Red Butte Garden Volunteer Program.
Primary Responsibilities: o Assist in recruitment, retention and recognition of volunteers.
o Field phone call and email inquiries about the Garden and its volunteer program
o Assist in creating partnerships with community service centers, service learning organizations, corporate and other groups
o Assist in interviewing new volunteers to determine availability and area of interest and place individuals accordingly
o Assist in new volunteer orientation and training sessions
o Regularly communicate with departments to track volunteer activity and ever-changing volunteer needs
o Assist in volunteer incentive and awards programs
o Maintain and update current volunteer database
o Manage volunteers at evening concerts from May – September.
o Schedule volunteers for special events, tram tours, off-site community events, horticulture shifts, etc..
Desired Qualifications: Associate degree in business or equivalency (2 years related work experience may be substituted for 1 year of education) and three years full-time secretarial experience required. Demonstrated human relations and effective written and verbal communication skills required. Knowledge of basic bookkeeping practices and direct supervisory experience preferred.

Preferences
Bachelor’s Degree in Horticulture, Botany, Human Resources or other relevant field or equivalent, plus one year directly related experience

• Outstanding written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills
• Demonstrated ability to work independently
• Strong organizational skills and experience in managing multi-faceted projects
• Flexibility to work evenings and weekends
