Position Summary: The Volunteer Coordinator is a key role to Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) of
the Intermountain Area. This role will be involved in maintaining and expanding the volunteer program
and is crucial as RMHC is a service enterprise organization. They will provide support to volunteer
recruitment, selection, training, recognition and retention for all direct service volunteers and service
groups in the Ronald McDonald House (House) and Ronald McDonald Family Rooms (Family Rooms).
They will provide high quality written and in person support and correspondence to volunteers and
service groups.
Primary Responsibilities: Volunteer Outreach
• Assist with presentations, community fairs, and other outreach efforts to raise awareness about
RMHC programs, and volunteer and involvement opportunities.
• Support volunteer recruitment and coordination to help with RMHC events including, but not
limited to the annual Gala and golf tournament as well as external events (as needed).
• Create/coordinate quarterly volunteer newsletter (or other related newsletters and volunteer
correspondence).
Volunteer Recruitment, Training and Recognition
• Serve as the contact for initial volunteer inquiries at RMHC Programs.
• Seek out opportunities to proactively recruit volunteers through 211, Information and Referral,
Volunteer Match, the Bennion Center, the Utah State Governor’s Office of Volunteerism, the
Assistance League of Utah, and local high schools and civic organizations, etc.
• Respond to incoming calls, emails, and inquiries from new & current volunteers in a timely
manner, maintaining a call log to track inquiries and follow-through.
• Collaborate with the Development Team to utilize RMHC social media and brand guidelines to
raise awareness and find support for the volunteer program and program/wish list needs.
• Help implement and run the monthly volunteer orientation and training program for House
volunteers, including training and coordination with key staff members regarding volunteers and
re-training as needed. Act as liaison between staff and volunteers when appropriate.
• Ensure volunteer retention through meaningful recognition, including but not limited to the
coordination of National Volunteer Appreciation Week, Utah Philanthropy Day, year-round
appreciation, and annual volunteer appreciation event for RMHC volunteers.
• Recruit for and support the Adopt a Meal program with reminder phone calls, onsite assistance
and gratitude emails.
• Assist with transitioning the Volunteer Program to an online application and streamlined
tracking process
Play a key role in the Silent Auction team and coordinating volunteers at the RMHC Spirit of
Children Gala and other RMHC events.
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
• Ability to meet all requirements of RMHC and partner hospitals – i.e., immunizations, trainings,
background check, drug test, COVID-19 testing, etc.
• Provide back-up for volunteer orientations at Hospitals and support to hospital program
volunteer onboarding
• Track and celebrate volunteer birthdays and anniversaries
• Implement special projects in coordination with the Volunteer & Outreach Director
• Fill in for vacations and/or holidays, as needed
• Attend department and all-staff meetings
• Cross train with other team members and departments
• Assist with COVID-19 testing and shuttle runs
Desired Qualifications: Experience Preferred: Two years of work experience in a customer service or similar position that
involved interaction with the public; experience working with volunteers or in a hospitality/concierge
setting.
Skills Required:
• Exceptional verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
• Basic computer proficiency, including email, Word and Excel, with willingness to master new
systems and processes
• Strong attention to detail
• Ability to work well under pressure, independently, and meeting multiple and sometimes
conflicting deadlines

• Highly organized, creative, energetic and collaborative team player
• Confidence, sensitivity and diplomacy to interact and collaborate with varied constituents,
including guests, volunteers, hospital personnel, staff, donors

Educational Requirements:
High school diploma.
