Position Purpose
Under the direction of the Afterschool Program Supervisor, the Elementary Afterschool Instructor is responsible for directing the Elementary programming that takes place at SNC. The Elementary program includes carrying out academic assistance, teaching social skills based curriculum and other appropriate programming at SNC according to the position requirements. The Elementary Afterschool Instructor will ultimately be responsible for fulfilling all program requirements.

Position will start the first week of August, 2020. A minimum of 16 (maximum 20 hrs per week) hours a week will be spent carrying out programming that will run from 3:45 pm – 7:15 pm M-F during the school year. Potential Summer school opportunities available during summer; schedule will change. Under the direction of the site supervisor the Elementary Afterschool Instructor will be allowed to use additional hours to carry out other program/grant responsibilities. Non-programming hours will be directed to administrative work including lesson planning, collecting grant data, and grant reporting.

Depending on circumstances of the pandemic some parts of the program may be performed remotely; if necessary, the position will be provided the appropriate PPE and clean materials according to CDC guidelines
Primary Responsibilities: • Coordinate and execute all activities in the Elementary After school programming which includes but is not limited to carrying out homework help, programming (planned lessons), and any other field trips or partnership activities
• Collaborate with other afterschool staff in completing all grant objectives
• Planning alternate activities for homework time (for kids who do not have homework or have finished homework)
• Keeping grant requirements and objectives up to date and organized
• Collaborate in completing grant reporting
• Completing other assigned tasks as needed
Desired Qualifications: - bilingual individuals who speak refugee specific languages given preference
- teaching experience and/or degree/coursework in education
- experience with refugees and diverse populations
- must have own transportation/valid driver's license for position
- must pass background check
- position is for school year only; summer employment opportunities with AAU a possibility
Benefits / Why Work for Us: Compensation:
• $12-15/hr DOE
• No benefits offered for PT positions
• Vacation and Sick time pro-rated by total hours worked per pay period
