Job Description: The ESLC is a community-based non-profit organization committed to bringing the promise of integration, security, and empowerment to adult immigrants and refugees in Salt Lake City, Utah. We provide free English
as a second language classes in community locations throughout Salt Lake County.
The Testing Specialist will assist the ESLC Program Coordinators in ensuring the success of classes by conducting testing and data entry
for each program.
 Sustain regular contact with your supervisor regarding: testing needs, student files, student documents, data entry, etc.;
 Perform other tasks as agreed upon by you and your supervisor;
 Conduct intakes off-site and in the ESLC office to register new or current students;
 Administer and grade student tests off-site or in the ESLC office as needed;
 Contact students who need to be tested;
 Track students’ attendance and follow up on non-attending students;
 Assist in compiling reports as requested;
 Fill in as a substitute teacher when necessary;
 Attend and participate in discussions during semi-weekly staff meeting;
 Meet monthly with supervisor to discuss accomplishments or challenges related to the position;
 Communicate any personal needs or concerns to your assigned supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications:
 Familiarity administering standardized tests
 Experience in data entry
 Above average ability to communicate verbally and in writing with diverse individuals
 Experience working with low to moderate-income community groups
 Strong organizational skills and ability to collaborate with a team
 Ability to work with limited supervision at times
 Proficiency in using GoogleDocs, Excel, and other computer programs
Preferred Qualifications:
 Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
 TESOL or equivalent ESL certification and experience as a professional ESL teacher (those working toward certification may also be considered)
Other requirements:
Valid driver’s license and ability to travel throughout Salt Lake County is necessary to perform job functions.
Background check will be performed on chosen candidate.
Hours/Compensation: 10 hours per week, evenings and Saturdays required. Compensation to be determined based on qualifications.
Applicants must be available to attend the Basic English Skills Test (BEST) Training on December 15, 2017 from 9-5.
