Position Summary: Utah Community Action is accepting applications for a HEAT (Home Energy Assistance Target) Eligibility Worker. We have multiple positions & locations available! The HEAT Eligibility Worker works directly with clients to gather documents & determine eligibility for the program. This process may be completed in-person or by phone, email, fax or mail. Offices are located throughout Salt Lake & Tooele counties. This is a part-time (25 hrs.), seasonal (August-April) position.

Receive a competitive wage of $15/hour. Not benefit eligible, other than our 401K benefit. Shifts are generally set at either Monday thru Friday 8:30am-1:30pm or 2-7pm.

Primary Responsibilities: JOB DUTIES

Responsible for providing quality services to customers, referring to outside agencies as needed and offering education in budgeting and energy-saving measures. Must monitor caseload regularly to ensure services are provided in a timely manner. May be asked to assist in other program areas, such as community outreach, editing and mentoring. As a representative of the agency, HEAT staff are responsible for providing exceptional customer service and advocating for clients using a trauma-informed, client-centered approach.


Proficient with various internet and computer applications
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to relate to clients from all socio-economic, ethnic and racial backgrounds
High level of confidentiality and accountability
Strong organizational and time management skills
Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team
Ability to use good judgment and problem-solve in a fast-paced environment
Knowledge of community resources, agencies and referral procedures
Ability to work with community partners and represent the agency with professionalism
Excellent use of English, both spoken and written
Desired Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED required.

Bachelor's Degree preferred.

MS Office experience required.

Bi-lingual preferred (Spanish or Arabic).
