Position Summary: Utah Community Action is accepting applications for a full time Mental Health Coordinator

The Mental Health Coordinator is responsible for the implementation and monitoring of program functions to ensure effective delivery of mental health services to children and families enrolled in Head Start and Early Head Start. This position is responsible for supervising the Mental Health team. With this responsibility, it is imperative for the staff member to have an extensive knowledge in early childhood mental health, mental health interventions, and parenting strategies. In addition, this position may be required to supervise student interns. In addition, this position may be required to supervise student interns.

This Mental Health Coordinator position earns a competitive wage of $60,000/salary. This is an exempt position. Primary Responsibilities: Develop Collaborative relationships with mental health professionals and agencies in the community.
Develop and train staff and families on a variety of mental health and parenting topics.
Collaborate with Head Start and Early Head Start staff to develop and implement Mental Health interventions in the classroom to support children and families.
Collaborate with teaching teams and families to ensure that appropriate referrals to mental health agencies are provided, as needed.
Regularly conduct classroom visits to model for and support the classroom teams in implementing interventions.
Collaborate with parents to gather information regarding their child's mental and social emotional health and provide support and referrals as needed.
Collaborate with teaching teams to follow up and monitor social emotional screeners (ASQ-SE an ASQ 3).
Actively participate on the Trauma Informed Team in effort to support the agency in becoming a trauma informed agency

Desired Qualifications: Advanced degree in mental health field such as social work, school counseling, or mental health counseling is required
Two years of supervisory experience required
Head Start experience preferred
Proof of Vaccination for COVID 19
Early childhood mental health experience preferred
Trauma informed care experience preferred
