Position Summary: OWCAP is seeking an innovative and motivated individual that enjoys problem-solving and building a cohesive team within Head Start. This position will implement behavioral assessments, observations, referrals; along with creating strategies for supporting children with challenging behaviors and other social, emotional, and mental health concerns. The Mental Health Specialist will utilize their sociable and flexible personality to connect with students and parents to detect behavioral and mental concerns while encouraging appropriate behavioral modification. Mental Health Specialists are results-oriented and analytical when consulting with parents and staff to promote positive mental health.

Primary Responsibilities: • Knowledge of head start standards as they pertain to child mental health
• Ability to communicate and relate to diverse cultures or groups
• Must have knowledge of treatment strategies in the areas of child behavior management and family crisis intervention
• Ability to work with families in a supportive manner through
Desired Qualifications: • Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy, Professional Counseling or School Counseling
• Licensed Mental Health professional in the State of Utah.
• One year’s experience working with young children
