Position Summary: Reporting to the vice president of finance and administration, the director of human resources is responsible for the planning, direction, and administration of all human resources (HR) programs for the college. The director will provide leadership and a high level of expertise in employment related processes, performance management, total rewards (compensation and benefits), professional development, employee relations, policy development and compliance, and organizational development.
Primary Responsibilities: Human Resources Processes
-Oversee and direct the day-to-day activities of the Human Resources Department, including employment, onboarding, pay practices benefits administration, compliance, and employee relations.
-Lead the ongoing analysis of current practices with a focus on efficiency, improved employee experience, and organizational equity. Ensure all practices are evaluated through the lenses of diversity, equity and, inclusion.
-Partner with staff in Academic Affairs and Student Affairs to ensure consistency in employment practices for faculty and student affairs.

Employee Relations
-Develop and implement a comprehensive employee-relations strategy that incorporates leadership effectiveness, employee engagement, conflict resolution, mediation, disciplinary actions, and alignment with inclusive practices.
-Provide advice, counsel, and coaching to college leadership in complex human resources-related matters and issues.

Additional Responsibilities
-Oversee and ensure compliance in employment accommodations for faculty, staff, and student employees.
-Serve as an Equal Opportunity Representative for the college.
-Develop, administer, and monitor the human resources department budget.

Diversity and Inclusion
-Promote an Inclusive Westminster through demonstration of the commitments included in the Westminster College Diversity Statement.
-Participate in developmental activities to increase understanding and awareness of issues related to diversity, equity and inclusion both individually and as related to my field of work, profession or discipline.

Compliance
-Ensure that all human resources policies, practices, and programs comply with applicable federal and state regulations. Develop and implement policies and procedures in support of organizational objectives and to ensure full compliance.
-Work closely with General Counsel. Consult with counsel regularly on employment, compliance, and legal issues as they arise.
-Oversee compliance related required training and ensure full compliance by staff, faculty, and student employees.
Desired Qualifications: -Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related field.
-At least 7 years of directly related work experience.
-At least 3 years of experience in a leadership role, including supervisory responsibility for professional level HR staff.
-Demonstrate knowledge of and experience with all aspects of human resources management.
-Demonstrated knowledge in all employment related law and regulation, including but not limited to FLSA, ADA, FMLA, ERISA, Title IV, Title IX.
-Demonstrated integrity, candor, ethical conduct.
-Demonstrated ability to maintain poise, professional demeanor, and perspective in complex situations.
