Job Summary: Overview for the Position of Executive Director:

SHEROES United is a Global Movement of Women Who DARE to Change the World through Love. D.A.R.E. equals Dignity. Action. Respect. Education.

SHEROES United is a 501(c)3 organization operating in the Wasatch Front Region (Layton south of Salt Lake City, Utah) with local and international reach.

The hired Executive Director will be in a position to take a previously 100% volunteer-run organization to new heights! We are looking for an enterprising management personality who can see the promise in what has been built, and use your abilities to bring a tremendous up-leveling to this organization. It's prime for someone to take over and create an even more extraordinary provider of services to women and families in need.

About the Organization:
SHEROES United is a stellar example of how individuals can join together to respond to deep, community needs. In early 2008, several Utah businesswomen recognized a deep need for women’s voices to be raised in regard to trauma in a very silent region of the nation.
These businesswomen collaborated to help women and families who were experiencing the fallout of trauma including sexual assault, domestic violence, war and frontline service within women veterans and first responders as well. We began with events involving experts, speeches, celebrity appearances, and flash mob dances with a strong message about standing for women and women leaders, in demonstration at the Utah Capital and downtown venues. The word began to spread rapidly.
Over the next several years, SHEROES was bombarded with needs within the community and worldwide. We stripped down to three pillars and two projects that were all designed to help women and families overcome trauma and save lives.

The Three Pillars Are:
• Abolishing Human Trafficking
• Eradicating Domestic Violence
• Supporting Women Veterans & 1st Responders

The Special Projects Include:
• Cinluma: an inexpensive, handheld device for underserved populations of women that eradicates pre-cancerous cells. SHEROES has purchased five devices to be used during Covid in native communities and high-risk women’s clinics with George Mason and other top university clinics.
• Inside-Out Leadership Program: a project that first taught women refugees from Congo at the Vatican, has been taught at the Utah State Prison for nearly three years, and has certified more than 250 women leaders from all populations and walks of life to overcome their own trauma and train new leaders.
For over a decade, SHEROES United has remained committed to the needs of the community by responding to the crises of women and families by supporting physical and emotional needs, creating events to raise awareness and education, foster community collaboration, and raise many, many women leaders.

Over the past decade, these are just a few of the extraordinary opportunities SHEROES United has created in order to serve:
• Honored Women Veterans for the first time in the nation’s history on a grand scale during our SHEROES Salute to Women Warriors. Since then, many awards have been given to women serving in WWII, Vietnam, Afghanistan and more. Relationships in the works to create a leadership program for Veterans using Inside-Out.

• Helped host the Parliament of the World’s Religions in SLC, ushered in the commencement, and shared the stage with multiple world leaders to bring women’s trauma and issues to the forefront for the first time in a hundred years.

• Brought life-changing and life-saving leadership curriculum to Congolese refugees, civil statesman, country leaders, clergy of the Catholic and Mormon churches, hundreds of women in prison over three years, and are now taking it to online populations as well as Kenya, Ghana and Uganda.

• Implemented and hosted a One Billion Rising event and flash mob every year, and/or celebrated International Women’s Day with local leaders, legislators, dancers and multi-ethnic performance groups. Showcased on local, national and international media.

• Gathered resources and implemented humanitarian and educational trips with “Days for Girls” kits and hygiene kits to remote regions outside of Nanital, India and Kenya, Africa. Collaboration in the works to bring life-saving devices to communities in the U.S., Kenya, Uganda and Ghana as well as rural and native communities throughout the U.S. with prestigious universities.

• Awarded from Utah Attorney General Sean Reye’s office for work in abolishing human trafficking.

• Presented at the United Nations Civil Society 2019, highlighting women’s issues and the need for change in violence against women/legislation and clarion call for leadership.

• Collaborated in the present/past with the Utah State Prison, Utah Attorney General’s office, Red Dress Project, Project Hope, Nanital, Indian Government, 100 Humanitarians, Domestic Violence Coalition of Utah, YWCA, YCC. New collaborations with George Mason University, U of U and others in the works.
Everything SHEROES United does benefits the community by helping the mothers, sisters, wives and daughters overcome trauma and rise as positive, empowered leaders in the community who in turn change and save lives.
And the circle of ‘DAREing’ to change the world through love continues.
