Job Summary: Nuzzles & Co. Rescue and Adoption Center (, is a progressive, highly respected no kill animal welfare 501c3 organization located in Summit County. Founded in 1990, we rescue the most vulnerable animals from our region’s overcrowded and underfunded shelters. We give pets the medical care, nourishment, training, socialization, TLC, and time they need until they find their forever homes.

We are seeking a Grant Writer/Development Manager who will work closely with the Nuzzles & Co. development team to advance our mission by providing grant writing, community outreach and
corporate sponsor support.
Primary Responsibilities: DIRECT RESPONSIBILITIES

● Securing corporate sponsorships.
● Represent Nuzzles & Co. as the chief spokesperson while at community and sponsor/partner events, well versed in our mission and programs.
● Develop, implement, and manage an effective marketing program that successfully positions the Nuzzles & Co. brand, drives awareness, supports the revenue growth strategy, and drives the achievement of our objectives and goals.
● Seek out and maintain community contacts with local agencies, civic groups, other nonprofit organizations, the media, and professional groups and networks.
● Write and oversee grant applications including planning, implementation, and reporting.
● Manage the production of annual fundraising and community engagement events and manage staff and volunteers.
● Demonstrated self-starter, highly motivated, and detailed oriented.

● Engage the community as a steward of animal welfare, including contributing to social media and participating in animal welfare partner associations and events.
● Assist and execute the annual, marketing plan and budget to increase exposure to desired target audience and the business community.
● Create, assign, and schedule content for pre-event social media posts. Event pages for the website, and social media for marketing activities.
● Calendar and post social media for third party events (
● Participate in weekly development and management meetings to update staff.
● Calendar/schedule activities/events on the Development and Master Google Calendar weekly.
● Provide regular reporting of revenue, progress, and successes and to provide for DD to present at monthly board meetings.
● Prospect corporate/in-kind sponsors for campaigns and events. Serve as liaison between Sponsors and DD.
● Attend funder roundtable discussions, and attend after-hour fundraising events on behalf of Nuzzles & Co.
● Identify and pursue grant opportunities from appropriate foundation and corporate sources.
● Annual Gala strategy, planning, management.

● Treat all animals humanely and with compassion and concern, both on and off the job.
● Act as a role model for employees and volunteers, follow all policies, procedures, and protocols at all times.
● Weekend events are common and will be required to work, an alternate day off during the week is traded when this occurs.
● Minimum experience of 3 years of experience in non-profit development role.
● Experienced grant writing ability demonstrating proven funding.
● Solid understanding of how to record and curate program outcomes for grant applications and
● Relevant development experience in fundraising, event management, grant writing, plus a
bachelor's degree.
● Ability to represent Nuzzles & Co. in the community, actively listen to donors’ priorities,
appreciate their interests, and form authentic connections.
● Experience managing employees, effectively leading committee or group events, and
supervising volunteers.
● Knowledge of the fundraising process and proven ability to develop resources and
● increase revenue.
● Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently.
● Donor database experience, with solid organizational and planning skills.
