UNA Credential in Volunteer Management (Online)

Your volunteers need to connect with your mission and our community continues— even in the face of pandemics, the call for social justice, and economic uncertainty. And your need for them remains too. What has changed is the way that you connect with your volunteers and the way that they connect with your cause. Your participation in the Credential in Volunteer Management will help you update and integrate your approaches and practices for volunteer management in a new normal that will be in transition for the foreseeable future.

Course Description and Learning Objectives

Developing and implementing best-practices for integrating your volunteers could deliver a return as high as a multiple of six. Engaged, talented, and committed volunteers are a critical component for any successful nonprofit—including yours. Their willing hands and passion for mission uplifts and impacts your mission, staff and the community. The Credential in Volunteer Management helps you nurture and protect these valuable people by incoprating proven systems and practices.

The Credential in Volunteer Management, one of nine courses in UNA’s Credential program, brings updated best practices to your organization and supports your integration of these practices into your nonprofit with expert-led classroom sessions, consultations, and coaching.

  • Classroom training focused on solidifying your familiarity with foundational concepts (including recruitment and retention) as well as new concepts—all synthesized to make the most of your time.
  • Comprehensive resources to guide your shaping of best practices in volunteer management. You won't need to start from scratch.
  • A consultation from experts in volunteer management to find answers to your specific questions. You won't be left wondering if your practices make sense.
  • Expert ongoing coaching. You don't have to go it alone.
  • Certification for your successful integration of best practices and a media guide for sharing that success. Taking a victory lap is its own reward.

Successful completion of this course will help you:

  • Integrate volunteer management into your organization's overall planning and development.
  • Secure senior leadership support and resources for strong volunteer management practices.
  • Develop and implement effective volunteer-related training organization-wide.
  • Engage and recognize volunteers.
  • Recruit, track, and communicate with volunteers digitally.
  • Demonstrate your commitment to sustainability to funders, stakeholders, and even your volunteers.
  • Prove your ability to lead your organization forward and contribute to your mission.
