POV: Celebrate National Philanthropy Day!

Every single nonprofit goes ‘round because we have phenomenal volunteers and caring donors. Utah is a bedrock of so many gracious folks who show Utah’s nonprofits love! Utah Philanthropy Day is an annual celebration where we honor that philanthropic spirit. This year’s celebration will take place on National Philanthropy Day, November 15, 2021. Once again, we are partnering with ABC4 Utah to broadcast the event in prime-time between 6:00-7:00PM PM on Channel 4.

We are awarding 7 keystone awards to these incredibly driven and talented individuals:

  • Natalie Green as the Outstanding Young Volunteer
  • Michael Aguilar as the Outstanding Volunteer
  • Natalie Gochnour as the Lieutenant Governor’s Public Service
  • Haven J. Barlow as the Philanthropic Leader
  • Community Foundation of Utah for the Foundation Spirit of Giving
  • Savage for the Corporate Spirit of Giving
  • Lynda Smart Brown as the Governor’s Career Humanitarian

We are also debuting a fantastic new award, Labor and Honor. Our award recipient of this inaugural award is a surprise, and you’ll have to tune in to the celebration to see who it is. What I can say is that this individual has really gone above and beyond to put pride and honor in their work. No doubt this person's story will invoke good vibes all around!

Another cornerstone of Utah Philanthropy Day are our Heart & Hands recipients. This year we have over 90! All these fantastic folks were nominated by nonprofits that they impact with their time, energy, and love.

It was so hard to narrow down one to highlight but, trust me, after reading just this one accolade you are going to want to learn more about our 2022 Heart & Hands recipients!

“Angela Williams is the epitome of selfless dedication and tireless service. In 2017, Angela was paired with one of our amazing ladies, a refugee from the Central African Republic. Over the last 4 years, Angela built countless budgets, organized social services, and went above and beyond the description of ‘volunteer’ and instead welcomed her as a friend. Women of the World relies on volunteers to be consistent and welcoming faces that inspire hope and teach skills. Angela is a shining example—particularly in the chaos of a global pandemic—of how we all can reach out a helping hand to those in need.”
