    Kate Rubalcava, joined the UNA team in January of 2016. Kate has over a seventeen years of community development, nonprofit, organizing and education experience. Over the years, she has had the opportunity to blend her learning of social justice, educational equity, and adult/college student development theory with practical knowledge and experience in her work with local nonprofits, school districts, government agencies, local municipalities, residents, and businesses in a way that has enhanced her experiential knowledge of communities. Her career, prior to joining UNA, includes leading Earn It. Keep It. Save It., Utah’s statewide coalition to provide Earned Income Tax Credit outreach, free income tax preparation, and asset development opportunities for CAP Utah. She established community schools for South Salt Lake City, served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in the sister-island nation of St. Kitts-Nevis, and promoted higher education and worked to increase community and resident leadership with University Neighborhood Partners. 

    Kate is also an active member in her community. She has served on a variety of boards and committees over the years all with the focus of enhancing the community she has always called home (Salt Lake City's West Side). Her most memorable involvements were her service on the Police Civilian Review Board for Salt Lake City Police Department from 2014-2016 and the administration and oversight of a the creation of a mural in Jordan Park which turned a blighted building into a beacon of color and beautiy. She also proudly watched as her mentee of two years, a young Afghani woman invovled in Catholic Communtiy Services Youth Refugee Foster Care Program, walked across the stage and accepted her high school diploma in 2016. She has most recently served as President of the Board for the English Skills Learning Center where she served on the board from 2014-2017. She has also served as the resident co-chair for the University Neighborhood Partners' Advisory Board. Presently she serves as Secretary and Board Member for the National Council of Nonprofits (located in Washington, D.C).

    Ms. Rubalcava has an Associate Degree in Criminal Justice and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Political Science and has also earned a Master of Education Degree in Educational Leadership and Policy. To restore balance from her activities, both professional and personal, she can be found running along the Jordan River Parkway, the 9-Line or the Porter Rockwell trail systems. A lover of movies you can also find her at the theater on five dollar movie night.

    Jill joined UNA in May of 2017 as the Professional Development and Communications Manager. Most recently Jill volunteered at the Rocky Mountain Innocence Center. She brings years of experience in the financial services industry and a passion for social justice, education, the environment, and health and human services - making her role a perfect way for her to feed her passions. 

    Jill holds an M.B.A. from the University of Kentucky and a B.B.A. from the University of Wisconsin. When not at work you'll find her in the mountains hiking with her dogs, friends, and family or skiing enthusiastically (but sadly for Jill, never expertly).

    Brandy joined the UNA team in November 2018 as the Director of Operations. She has a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a Bachelor of Science in Sociology from the University of Utah and is proud to be the first college graduate in her family. Throughout her education and professional experience, Brandy has been dedicated to being a positive impact in the world. Her work in the nonprofit community over the last ten years has led her to her life's passion: making our world a safe and happy one.  Prior to joining the UNA team, Brandy managed statewide membership services, created trainings, managed large events, helped to shape organizational policy, and contributed to strategic planning efforts - as well as tackling any tasks in front of her. She is excited to apply her rich nonprofit and life experiences to the nonprofits throughout the amazing state of Utah.

    Brandy is passionate about improving the quality of life for underserved communities. She volunteers with a refugee community providing monthly activities for families and connections to resources to help with life needs. When she is not working or volunteering, you can find her travelling with her spouse and best friend! From road trips to flights around the world Brandy loves to land in unfamiliar places and then immerse herself in the culture and community.

    Alison joined UNA in July 2018 as the Program Support Coordinator. Alison brings a wide range of marketing and public relations expertise to UNA. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from Westminster College and an Associate Degree in Humanities from Salt Lake Community College. Alison has been a part of the nonprofit world for many years from her very first internship at International Volunteers in Urology (IVU) to volunteering for Utah Youth Village, MOMS Club® International, and her local PTA organization.

    Alison is passionate about environmental issues including water conservation and air quality as well as family and children’s services. Outside of work she enjoys hiking and exploring the outdoors, working in her garden, improving her baking skills, and spending time with her husband and two boys.

    Collyn Mosquito joined the UNA team in April 2019 as the Public Policy Program Coordinator. Collyn is passionate about policy and politics (the good kind). Throughout his educational and professional experience, Collyn has sought to make a positive impact in the world of government and policy. Prior to joining the UNA team, Collyn worked on public policy in both city and state governments, built a strategy for an advocacy group, managed a political campaign, volunteered for various nonprofits, and married a nonprofit founder. Wherever he is, Collyn is always seeking to do the most good and be engaged.

    Collyn received a B.A. in Political Science from Brigham Young University with a minor in civic engagement. He is currently attending Westminster College for his graduate degree in community leadership.

    As the Southern Utah Committee Chair and Representative of UNA, Dawn McLain and the Write It Up! team are dedicated to Utah's many valuable nonprofit organizations and their unique needs. Dawn has been working with UNA through her outreach coordination since August 2012.

    Write It Up! is a small, full service advertising agency focusing on small to medium companies in need of strategic marketing and public relations planning, development and implementation. We have successfully been in business for 20 years.
