Kate Rubalcava, CEO joined the UNA team in January of 2016. Kate has over a decade of community development, organizing and education experience. Ms. Rubalcava has an Associate Degree in Criminal Justice and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Political Science and has also earned a Master of Education Degree in Educational Leadership and Policy. While obtaining her advanced degree, she had the opportunity to blend her learning of social justice, educational equity, and adult/college student development theory with practical knowledge and experience in her work with local nonprofits, school districts, government agencies, local municipalities, residents, and businesses in a way that enhanced her experiential knowledge of communities. Her career, prior to joining UNA, includes leading Earn It. Keep It. Save It., Utah’s statewide coalition to provide Earned Income Tax Credit outreach, free income tax preparation, and asset development opportunities for CAP Utah. She established community schools for South Salt Lake City, served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in the sister island nation of St. Kitts-Nevis, and promoted higher education and worked to increase community and resident leadership at University Neighborhood Partners.
Kate is also an active member in her community. She serves on the Police Civilian Review Board for Salt Lake City Police Department, is President of the Board for the English Skills Learning Center, and is a tutor through Catholic Community Services where she works one on one with a young woman enrolled in their Youth Refugee Foster Care Program. To restore balance from her activities, both professional and personal, she can be found running along the Jordan River Parkway, the 9-Line or the Porter Rockwell trail systems.

Patty Shreve joined the UNA team in 2010. Patty initially joined as Membership Services Manager and is currently the Operations Manager. Among her other duties, she is the resourceful “librarian” behind UNA’s help desk and can usually find an answer to your nonprofit question.
Patty has a B.S. in Biology from the University of Utah. Prior to joining the UNA team Patty worked for 20 years in nonprofit zoos and aquariums around the US and Portugal. In her final phase in this career field, Patty held the position of curator at Salt Lake City’s Tracy Aviary.
Patty balances her work life through explorations of the beautiful landscapes, flora and fauna of the intermountain west.
Professional Development Coordinator

Brooke Dimond joined the UNA team as an intern initially, and is now the Professional Development Coordinator based out of the Salk lake City offices. She has a bachelor's degree in communication from the University of Utah. Prior to joining the UNA team, Brooke managed events across the nation for six years where she garnered attendance of 500 to 50,000 per event.
Brooke has been an asset in her position of Professional Development Coordinator where she oversees the coordination of training programs for UNA members and various events including the Annual Utah Nonprofits Association Conference. She serves as a committee member for the Silver Spurs Gala at Volunteers of America and TEDxSaltLakeCity.
Southern Utah Networking Coordinator
As the Southern Utah Committee Chair and Representative of UNA, Dawn McLain and the Write It Up! team are dedicated to Utah's many valuable nonprofit organizations and their unique needs. Dawn has been working with UNA through her outreach coordination since August 2012.
Write It Up! is a small, full service advertising agency focusing on small to medium companies in need of strategic marketing and public relations planning, development and implementation. We have successfully been in business for 20 years. Davis/Weber County Networking Intern
Ann Parry is a community advocate who has been working with nonprofit groups in Weber County Utah and its surrounding areas for 14 years. Parry’s community advocacy work has included assisting nonprofits in creating programs and services, developing partnerships, changing public policies, as well as laws and practices to improve the lives of citizens.
Networking Event Volunteer
Jessica coordinates youth services for all incoming refugee youth age 0-18 who are resettled through Catholic Community Services. She has been working with refugee youth in Salt Lake City for over 7 years, starting as a volunteer mentor and becoming the Youth Coordinator. Jessica has a BA in Human Development and Family Studies with a minor in Peace and Conflict Studies and Human Rights from the University of Utah.
Public Policy Intern
Kelly is currently working in her community facilitating the CDC National Diabetes Prevention Program for the Wellness and Integrative Health Center at the University of Utah. Kelly received her BS in Health Promotion and Education and Minor in Nutrition from the University of Utah. She also volunteers her time as an advocate for the Rape Recovery Center and the Utah State Health Department screening and educating under-served populations for HIV and Hepatitis C.
