Recognizing and Uplifting Indigenous Voices
November is Native American Heritage Month, so it’s a perfect time (today, and every day!) to celebrate and honor the strength and resilience of Utah’s Indigenous communities. Utah is home to the Ute, Shoshone, Paiute, Goshute, and Diné Tribes—communities whose history and culture continue to shape and enrich our state.
Are you an Indigenous voice in the music space? HUM by The Salt Lake City Public Library has an open call for recording submissions released in the past decade that highlight Native and Indigenous voices from Utah and reservations along the border. Submissions are open until November 30.
P.S. If you’re located in Salt Lake County, are you attending the Salt Lake City Forum tomorrow? Learn more.
