UNA Welcomes Timothy Shriver, Special Olympics Chairman and University of Utah Impact Scholar to the 2024 Annual Conference: Embrace + Embolden

Afternoon Keynote Address Announcement

We are honored to announce special guest and lunch keynote speaker for the 2024 UNA Annual Conference, Dr. Timothy Shriver. Dr. Shriver is a husband, father of 5, Chairman of Special Olympics International, founder and current CEO of UNITE, and co-creator of the Dignity Index, an initiative to promote national unity and solidarity across differences.

Dr. Shriver was named a University of Utah Impact Scholar in 2023, where he engages with and informs local policymakers, consults with university leadership on societal impact, and contributes to an exceptional student experience.

Trained as an educator, Dr. Tim Shriver has been a tireless advocate for those with disabilities for decades. In that capacity, he has driven the largest expansion of the Special Olympics organization, growing the movement from one million athletes to over six million athletes in 193 countries around the world. He later co-founded the Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning (CASEL), the leading school reform organization in the field of Social and Emotional Learning. Dr. Shriver earned his undergraduate degree from Yale University, a master’s degree from Catholic University, and a Doctorate in Education from the University of Connecticut.

In his career, Dr. Shriver has harnessed the power of Hollywood to challenge unconscious bias and share stories of inspiration, executive producing 6 films. He is the author of the New York Times bestseller Fully Alive – Discovering What Matters Most, and co-editor of The Call to Unite: Voices of Hope and Awakening. As an antidote to the rise of contempt in our society Dr. Shriver has co-founded a new group called UNITE, which has produced the Dignity Index as a tool to restore civility and calm to our politics.

UNA is delighted to welcome Dr. Tim Shriver to the 2024 Annual Conference, where he will share insights and inspiration with 450 attendees from over 100 different nonprofit organizations gathered in the spirit of connection, learning, and growth.

Tim's address will follow our esteemed morning keynote speaker, Donna Murray-Brown, Vice President of Strategy and Development at the National Council of Nonprofits. In her role, Donna leads the growth of NCN's core resources through practical and impactful strategic initiatives that integrate knowledge, policy, and advocacy competencies to support the network in advancing its goals.

Don't miss the opportunity to hear from these leaders and more. Register today for the 2024 UNA Annual Conference.
