The 2018 Annual UNA Nonprofit Conference: Story Matters

Date: Tuesday, September 25, 2018
Location:
Utah Cultural Celebration Center
1355 West 3100 South, West Valley City

The UNA Annual Nonprofit Conference is the place for Utah's Nonprofit Professionals and friends to Gather, Learn, Grow and Refresh. The 2018 conference offers an important keynote with a valuable message, practical and illuminating breakout sessions, awards for leaders in our sector, an Expo Hall filled with people who can and want to help the nonprofit community thrive, and nonstop opportunities to mingle, network, and refresh your sense of mission.

What's Your Story? Andy Goodman, of the Goodman’s Center, will deliver the keynote address: “Change the Story, Change the World.” This keynote will explain why storytelling endures as the single most powerful communication tool. Period. Andy will also provide specific ways your organization can use story to advance your mission.

Breakout Sessions are About Integrating Information. The focus of the breakout sessions is to provide you information, ideas and practices that you can apply to your organization. In addition to bringing you up to speed on issues confronting nonprofits, breakout sessions will show you how to weave your story throughout your organization in new and unexpected ways, amplify your on-line voice, practice some self-care, and more.

The Expo Hall is Resource Rich! Our Expo Hall will give you the opportunity to meet with exhibitors who can help you advance your mission by, among other things, solving some of your non-mission related challenges – so you can focus on your mission.(Your takeaway: The Expo Hall can create time for mission and our use of the world, "message," is excessive.)  Visit every one of these fabulous exhibitors and you’ll be in the running for some sweet swag and great relationships.

All day long, every way you turn, you’ll see the friendly faces of other nonprofit pros, waiting to say hello to you. (Of course if they are on the shy side, they may be waiting for you to greet them. So say hello, already!) You will leave the conference with a fistful of business cards, a head full of new ideas,  some fantastic new friends, and a clearer purpose to accomplish your mission. The 2018 UNA Annual Nonprofit Conference – your place to gather, learn, grow and refresh!

UNA Nonprofit Leader Awards

Nominate an Outstanding Nonprofit Leader: People with Passion and Vision

Nonprofit professionals make a difference in their communities each and every day. They bring  rich perspectives, passion, and a desire to see their mission enrich our state and our world. These talented, thoughtful people who devote their lives to nonprofit work make the nonprofit sector special. In 2017, in recognition of the people who work every day to strengthen, unify, elevate and sustain our communities, UNA began conferring leadership awards at our Annual Nonprofit Conference. We are pleased and honored to continue this new tradition at this year’s conference on September 25, 2018.

Nominate an Outstanding Nonprofit Leader
Nominate an Emerging Nonprofit Leader

The Outstanding Nonprofit Leader personifies the characteristics that make the nonprofit sector instrumental in our communities and in our state. He or she works with passion and compassion to make our communities better places to live and work. Our view of leadership is not a title or a designation. Instead it is about the people who not only persevere in the face of obstacles, but inspire the people around them to dig deeper and work harder. So your nomination need not be for an Executive Director or CEO. Of course, if that is their role, we welcome their nomination. Regardless of title, their passion is contagious and their impact is sustained and meaningful.

The Emerging Nonprofit Leader has five or fewer years in the nonprofit sector. (It’s more than fine if they have experience outside of the sector.) In these five or fewer years, your nominee for the Emerging Nonprofit Leader has exemplified passion, compassion, and cooperation. Your nominee is a leader not because of his or her title, but because he or she spreads a passion for the mission in all endeavors. Your nominee inspires colleagues and cohorts to bring their best selves to the mission. Your nomination’s title may or may not be Executive Director or CEO – although if it is, that works, too. Regardless of their role, their passion is contagious and their results are impressive.
(These awards are for individuals. We are unable to consider nominations for couples or groups of volunteers or teams of professionals. )
