Job Description: This program will place AmeriCorps members in elementary schools with their responsibility being to mentor students who have been identified by school leadership as needing support and helping them be successful in school.

Guadalupe Charter School is seeking a full-time AmeriCorps member to coordinate this program to serve the students identified to participate. Members will:

1) Case manage high-risk students identified through attendance data
2) Track students attendance and grades to provide support and follow-through where needed
3) Act as a liaison with parents to help in their efforts to get involved in their child’s education
4) Recruit and retain volunteers to provide needed services which may include tutoring or after school homework help
5) Work with other programs already implemented in the school that meet the grant framework such as after school programming, etc.
6) Meet regularly with school leadership, mainly the school social worker, to collaborate on services that students in the program are receiving.
7) Maintain an activity log that tracks what the program is helping the student with (such as behavior contracts, tutoring, checking in with teachers, etc.)

AmeriCorps members will also be required to:
1) Complete 1700 hours during the school year
2) Complete a minimum of 100 hours in community service done outside the schools
3) Recruit 15 volunteers to act as tutors or mentors in afterschool programs

Full time members will be paid $15,000 over 10 months and will receive an education financial award of $5,800.00 at the conclusion of their service. There are health insurance policies available and help with child care expenses if needed.
